Lapland Decorations
"Lapland Decorations", also known as "Eggnog's Lapland Decorations", was conceived 100 days before Christmas 2023.
Creating quality keepsakes and gifts for travellers to Lapland (and those who just love Christmas!) [Whilst this venture has started with Lapland, more magical keepsakes from more magical places will be added!] If you have your own idea, please ask. We felt that travellers to Lapland sometimes struggled with getting souvenirs, gifts and keepsakes so decided to come up with some ourselves. With a d
Pre-dinner painting continued.
I have a few more of these these for “Mum”, “Mummy”, “Daddy”, “Nan”, “Nanny”, “Dog Mum” but these ones won’t be continued. And for the price I’m thinking for these will be £1.50, or £2 in one of our “Eggnog’s Lapland Decorations” boxes. (That may change. These will come along to craft fairs with me. For the ones which have a shape on them (they will also have a shape on the back, I haven’t decided yet but please ask if interested. I’m looking forward to doing different colour schemes in those.
❄️🎄Finally happy with these decorations and they are going to start their way to the new homes later today. 🎄❄️
🎄Whilst some of these will be one off’s (and many are still work-in-progress") as they are clearance stock for a friend that I am decorating myself, it’s giving me new ideas for future decorations, some of which I will sell a few at a time. As you can see, various colours are possible as well as all sorts of themes. These will be taken to craft fairs and will be sold cheaply as just trying to recover costs plus a little bit more. If you like anything in particular please just let me know, or if it’s given you an idea for something bespoke, even better. 🎄
❄️🎄Part-way through my most recent orders. These are for two lucky families off to Lapland over the winter season, one to Ylläs, one to Saariselkä. (I don’t know how to do the double dots over the “a” on my phone so I’ve copied and pasted.) 🙂 🎄❄️
Last year we were asked to do a bespoke decoration as they were going to go on The Polar Express. Whilst obviously not affiliated with them, this was purely a one-off but it shows that various designs are possible. Pleased to have been able to assist creating a memory for this family. 🚂🎄
❄️🎄 Delighted to have sold a few of the personalised decorations this week, to those who are going to Lapland this season. This will give me another photo opportunity for people to see some of the various options. These particular ones will be place names and dates. Photos early in the week, when complete, before they head to their new homes. 🎄❄️
A couple more pictures of the advent Christmas trees, which are available fully painted/glittered as well as natural. The other options are to have the tree painted/glittered as required and then have neutral mini- decorations that can be painted. I have found few places put together paint strips– I had difficulty when I had the Christmas colours put together. The Christmas colours are great for the Christmas boxes and to be sold locally but they are slightly too big (5ml) for the narrow boxes I use so have decided to order strips of the 3ml size and do bespoke paint strips myself. The favourite colours, but not the only colours, I use are all the metallic colours shown here. In this way, you can choose your favourite six colours (or more) for your decorations, which I will be able to provide shortly.
Now I’ve tentatively worked out how to hang these Christmas backdrops on metal frames, I am going to make these available for hire which would obviously include setting up and dismantling.
Couldn’t post videos and photos together. This is the last of the items that I bought in for my first year. However, everything is checked and packaged better than it was originally. All gifts have been bought with a view to try and keep everything below £10 so with that in mind the blue one is £9 (I have 2) and the Elvis one I’ve reduced to £6. This one does have a slight flaw but not in the mechanism. The screws holding in the mechanism I would ideally like to replace as look old, but I can’t get them out.
Similar to the trains, I bought these sleighs to add to my initial stock.
I’ve only got six, two of each colour. There is an option with these to put a name on the seat back via a plaque (I did have three Lapland ones but can’t find them currently.) Would be easy to re-create if required. Golden and silver sleighs are £9, the natural one for decorating is £7 and with a strip of paints and a couple of paint-brushes will be £2 more. Personalisation of any is +£2.
For these next photos I ought to entitle a segment “sleighs, trains and Christmas boxes” but this is concentrating on the trains.
I haven’t made these, however I bought them as they look perfect for the “Christmas workshop” feeling. However, for the wooden ones, I have ditched the plastic packaging and replaced with a card and cotton wool packaging, the sort of thing I use for all my other decorations. Some of these I have multiple in the one design but some I’ve only got one of ie, the ones which I’ve taken photos of in the window and, I think, the pink plastic train.
Mainly decorative, but would withstand careful “use”. Wooden trains are £9 each and the plastic trains are £5 each.
These are examples of the more ornate DIY decorations. Whereas I have glittered a few of these, they could equally be painted and I have paints available, along with paintbrushes and glue for those who want to start from scratch and put together yourself. I will add more photos but I have them in “Christmas”, “Xmas”, and “Rudolph” (as well as Lapland.) I have them all which are ready to be put together yourself or a silver and gold glitter option available in each.
These are some of my “message” decorations, some which have been done in both a traditional and funky font. Some have already been painted in silver or gold with a shimmer green glitter but they can be painted any metallic colour. These can all be packed in a slim gift box and hence very economical to send as a Christmas gift.
Christmas boxes - some made up, all can be made up, paint strips, paint brushes and glue available.
Will gradually add all my non-Lapland specific decorations and gifts to this album. The majority are things which have been designed/decorated by myself some of which can be personalised. There are a few small gifts such as train sets and hand-cranked music boxes which have bought in additional items for craft/Christmas fayres.
Welcome to the page’s new followers. The first decoration remains the most popular but if you’re looking for Lapland decorations specifically, please look through the photo album on this page. Most are on there other than the new decorations which can be personalised - second photo.
All can be decorated in whatever metallic colour you wish, plus there are a couple of non-metallic colours available. it is also possible to upgrade to the new “Eggnog’s Lapland decorations” ribbon.
Over time I will try to set up a new album with all the non-Lapland specific items which have been included in various ongoing posts.
100 days to Christmas and one year exactly since “Lapland Decorations” started. Here are a few of the berries starting to turn colour along with some stray poppies still in the garden.
Today is my one year anniversary and 100 days until Christmas. This is just a handful of my Lapland-themed decorations which can be decorated in any colour. Please check out the album page if you want to see many more pictures. (It’s not complete but will give you a good idea of a lot of my decorations, all in one place.)
My Sunday morning project is looking into supplying my own custom paint strips. Whilst I already have some Christmas coloured themed paint strips - silver, gold, green, red, white and black/brown, (which are what I’ve painted the Christmas boxes with), I’m looking into more for the advent Christmas trees and other decorations I am looking at making. Customers can then choose what 6 colours they want. (Happy to supply the paints I have separately also so if you have a project and don’t want to buy multiple paint pots, please ask.)
The holly tree is getting ready. The berries are gradually turning red and there are a few flowers. This year the berries lasted well into spring so was showing red for eight or nine months of the year. My only instruction to my gardener friend this year was “you can attack everything in the garden, but the holly remains”. I did let him lop at the top off and I’ve freed it from the ivy. Cue song!
Some of the non-Lapland decorations – some glittered, some not yet.
🎄I’d like to thank all new followers of Lapland Decorations, many of which who are our local, to add to those who have found our page via “Lapland” Facebook sites. I currently have a large store of Lapland decorations so I’m currently working on a few ideas closer to home, ie. Wellington, as well as potentially designing bespoke decorations for local businesses. Most decorations I’m going to try to incorporate a Lapland twist to them so I can create things that appeal to both “audiences.” The latest design, to add to the flat-pack “advent” Christmas trees is a star for the top of the tree which can also be flat packed. Photos in due course. I have painted one, but the next one I make will be glittered.
New ideas being thought of all the time though. If you have an idea of something you’d like creating, please let me know. For those in Wellington, there are now price lists in the window as the website doesn’t include some of the bulkier non-Lapland themed items which will only be available for collection or by delivery. And I don’t believe it would be cost-effective to anyone to send those items. Thanks, Emma 🎄
🎄Natural Wood or the shimmer glittered tree with fully painted decorations. Or several options in between. 24 places for decorations which means it is an advent Christmas Tree and one could be painted each day leading up to Christmas. 🎄
