These pieces are a result of ongoing research and collaboration between the artist and mycelium organisms. The sculpture's outer layer is made of recycled garment weavings handmade by Opazo, while the inside of the sculpture has been filled with oyster mushroom mycelium. During the course of this exhibition, the mycelium will digest the work and make their way through the sculpture, steadily growing over the coming weeks. The artist will take the digested sculpture back to her studio lab and re-introduce mycelium to the piece until the sculpture is completely digested. Viewers have the opportunity to see the piece transforming during the exhibition, and gain insight into the artist's ongoing research seeking a solution to textile waste.
