“A current rightwing talking point about loan forgiveness is "Why should we subsidize all these people getting impractical degrees like gender studies?" Complete BS. 1 out of 5 people getting college degrees major in business related degrees (the next big group is health and biomedical/biology). The number of people majoring in degrees like gender studies in miniscule - and many are concentrated at elite universities where most students then go on to get masters or higher related to their actual employment.

Here is the rub, the degrees the right likes to champion are pretty impractical. Over 50% of people with most business related degrees are under-employed (ie in jobs where degree not required) - about the same as most liberal arts degrees. Our higher education system needs fixing for sure - but the vilifying of esoteric liberal arts major is pure partisan BS divorced from reality of current education environment. Loan forgiveness is going predominately to people who did exactly what GOP types have long advised.”

This is so true. One of the bigger decisions at one of the worst times in our developmental lives.
