Go Power Puerto Rico
These 2 Gator grads are bringing renewable power to the residents of Puerto Rico, who have been mostly without power for the last two months.
Help us bring clean energy to Puerto Rico
These 2 Gator grads built a small, deployable, residential power unit, supplied entirely by the natural resources: sunlight and wind. They want to bring renewable power to the residents of Puerto Rico, who have been mostly without power for the last two months. With the inland area not expecting to have power back for at least 6 months to a year, Derek and Garrett pitched their money together and purchased a wind turbine, solar panel, battery, and inverter. The hybrid unit was proposed by Derek, a Mechanical Engineer working in the power generation industry. The prototype components were purchased after weeks of research; figuring out the best way to maximize power generation while minimizing installation costs and space requirements.
Each unit will sufficiently power a small refrigerator, charge cell phones and laptops, illuminate lamps and run standing fans throughout the night, simultaneously. For every $2,000 raised, they’ll build a mobile power unit to be installed on the island, starting with families with elders and young children.
Donate now at www.gofundme/gopowerpr and help bring power back to the island. The team’s first deployment begins December 8th!
