Start a new holiday tradition that saves you money and helps the planet! Over the weekend we co-hosted a sip & swap - an event aimed at reuse of clothing, accessories, and white elephant gifts. Rather than increasing demand for new items in the marketplace, attendees brought things they no longer use, grabbed a drink, and found new-to-them items they were excited to take home!

A few interesting stats that sparked the idea for this party:
Each year, 92 million tons of clothing ends up in landfills. Even though most of us donate clothing we no longer want, two-thirds of clothing castoffs head directly to the landfill. What is abundantly clear is that we produce far too much in the first place, and buying new only increases demand.

The best way to help the environment when it comes to clothing is to:
-buy secondhand
-swap unwanted items with friends and family
-buy fewer pieces that are higher quality and will last a long time

Want to make your own? We have a tutorial in the works. In the meantime, there are tutorials on Pinterest, just be sure to use Elmer's glue instead of tape to make the bows completely compostable and bio degradable!
