I posted this in my IG page yesterday but wanted to share here too.
This was a cinnamon raisin loaf I baked last week and sort of forgot about so instead of it going to waste I sliced it up and put it in the freezer.
We do this with storebought bread or at least we used to. Buy in bulk and freeze it. You can definitely do the same with your fresh sourdough loaves.
A fresh loaf should last between 5-7 days if stored well in a bag in a bread box or even in the refrigerator. It only contains flour, salt and water with the addition of raisins here.
It’s entirely normal for a loaf like this to start showing signs of mold after a week.
There are NO preservatives in it to extend shelf life which is why freezing your loaves is a great option if you know you won’t eat them within that time.
Slice before you put in the freezer so you can enjoy one slice at a time 🥰🍞.
Did you know that you can make just about any type of bread, pastry or baked good with sourdough culture in it?
Cookies, bagels, waffles, muffins, you name it. Sourdough isn’t just for bread although that’s what it’s mainly used to bake with. You can add a quantity of your sourdough starter in just about any recipe.
You can also share your starter with others and if they keep « feeding » it, it should live on and they can now make any baked good with their own starter too. Just put it in the fridge when you’re not using it. Simply take it out the night before you want to bake with it, feed it and by next morning it will be good to go (depending on how long it’s been in the fridge for).
Sourdough is that amazing. Bake anything with it and share it with friends! What else can you ask for?
Msg me to get your own sourdough starter culture with instructions today 😊🤍🍞

Turning dough into bread is a learned skill which I have been perfecting over the past few months. I am ready to share this with the world.
If you’re interested in learning about sourdough and the entire bread making process, send me a msg and we can book a sourdough workshop.
The workshops will consist of hands on learning including, starter maintenance, mixing dough, handling dough, etc.
Get a group of friends together for a fun night or afternoon of learning! You won’t regret it ☺️🤍

Really loving foccacia lately. Foccacia is an Italian bread of origin. It’s baked flat in the oven and is slightly higher in hydration than a normal loaf of bread which gives it its airy bubbly crust. Foccacia pairs well with any dish and can even be made into a sandwich. It’s also a great addition to any charcuterie board.
I love to bake mine in a large rectangular cookie sheet.
Msg me today to order yours.
Full pan or half topped with fresh garden rosemary 🌿
(My favorite way to enjoy it is with some good olive oil and balsamic vinegar, soooo good!)

What is sourdough bread?
Sourdough bread is not only described as the flavour but more how the bread is made.
It is the most ancient way of making bread and dates back thousands of years.
Sourdough is bread that has been naturally leavened by using a sourdough “starter” which is a mixture of fermented flour and water. This starter acts as the commercial yeast to make the bread rise. It contains naturally occurring yeast and good bacteria which make the bread easier to digest.
Sourdough is long fermented, taking longer to rise than instant yeast would. It is a beautiful slow process.
Sourdough is one of the healthiest breads you can eat. Flour, water and salt are the only ingredients I use. No preservatives. No chemicals.
Have you tried mine yet?
Let me know if you are interested.
