What is a M.A.C.? M.A.C. is Mini ‘Auana Class: hula lesson videos

For the entire month of July, there will be a new ‘auana available to learn at your leisure. The online video instructions will be available on Mondays 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, & 7/29. The mele that have been chosen are by requests or something I’ve been wanting to teach for awhile. These dances are for you to be able to have in your repertoire. Dance and share your hula anywhere you like.

Prices and levels may vary, but there will be something for everyone!!!

Our season for 2023-2024 starts September 12, 2023. Weʻll have classes on Hawaiian hula, Tahitian dance, ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi, Hawaiian hoʻopaʻa and Tahitian drumming. Four nights a week, in Peoria and Scottsdale.

Hawaiian Celebration at the Heard This Weekend 🏄🏽‍♀️ The reigning champions of the Merrie Monarch Festival are the hula halau Ka Lei Mokihana O Leina‘ala of Kalaheo, Kauai, under the direction of kumu hula Leina‘ala Pavao Jardin. They will be performing Friday and Saturday and giving a Hula workshop and demonstration on Saturday at 12 p.m.

We're starting a new season, it runs from April through June 2022. This is nine sessions over three months. We're teaching in Peoria, AZ, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and in Scottsdale, AZ, on Saturday mornings.

Today Desert Strummers performs at 1:30 and KHOH performs at 3:00. Come to Mesa for Polynesian food and entertainment!

Today at Arizona Aloha Festival we perform at 2:15 PM on the Mountain Stage. Our program is "Nā Pua o Hawaiʻi", the flowers of Hawaiʻi.

At 3:15, Desert Strummers presents "No Nā Keiki", songs inspired by children. We've invited our hula brothers and sisters to share the stage.

Then stick around for 4:15 Island Jam to end the weekend.

After much consideration we've decide to wait to offer KHOH classes in the East Valley. We'll reevaluate at the end of the year in hopes to begin in January 2022 for a partial season.

We are offering registration thru September for West Valley classes in Peoria at 808 Social. Here is the final schedule of KHOH classes being offered:

Schedule update - Hula Kahiko is at 9:30 AM

Kumu Kaimi is teaching hula kahiko in April, 2021. Learn her choreography of "Kawika" as influenced by her roots. Sheʻll present it in traditional style and three styles from her kumu, Mark Kealiʻi Hoʻomalu. Enrollment is open to all ages, all genders, any experience level.

Learn these versions:

"Kawika" from "Poʻokela Chants"
"Kawika/Holo Ana O Kalakaua" from "Call It What You Like..."
"Eia No Davida" from "Traditional Limits"

A bonus hula is included: "Holo Ana O Kalakaua"

Aloha Festival was fun this year. We taught some new hula, recorded videos and music in the park, and we graduated one of our hula sisters.

Hula brothers and sisters joined our virtual festival performance from all over the country. Kumu Kaimi introduced each of the videos.
