The Philly Foster Care Convening will serve as a crucial platform for secondary and post-secondary advocates dedicated to aiding students in navigating the financial aid process for foster youth in Philadelphia.

πŸ—£οΈ Ron Felder, Higher Education Access Partner-Philadelphia/PHEAA and Diona Brown, Director of School Services/PHEAA, will deliver updates on pivotal financial aid opportunities such as the Chafee Education and Training Grant Program and the PA Fostering Independence Tuition Waiver Program.

πŸ—£οΈ PA State Representative Jordan A. Harris and PA State Senator Vincent Hughes will offer remarks underscoring the significance of legislative support for these students.

πŸ—£οΈ The Philadelphia Education Fund’s very own Madeline Birkner, Senior Manager, Persistence & College Partnerships will share insights on how students can pay for college and PEF’s efforts to support youth.

πŸ—£οΈ Barbara Mattleman, Consultant at I-LEAD and Cynda Clyde, Program Director, Fostering College Attachment, I-LEAD, will review innovative programs at several colleges that have specific programs to support foster youth as well as available scholarships.

Collaborating with the School District of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable, this event promises to be an enriching experience for those who support foster youth!
