Don't you just love going to estate sales? I certainly do. Today I hit the mother lode of beautiful linens, including a tatted tablecloth. Can you imagine the months and months—or possibly years—that it took to tat a 65" x 82" cloth? Someone poured a lot of time and a lot of love into making it. It's a real treasure!
Tatting is a durable lace made with fine thread and done with a two-pointed shuttle. Look closely and you'll see the little "picot" loops at intervals on the tiny circles that make up the design—these are for decorative effect and allow the small medallions to be joined to others to make larger pieces. Tatting is most often found as the edging on napkins, collars, and linen table scarves, but tablecloths are fairly rare because they took so much time to make.
Do you have a family heirloom that someone lovingly created? If you do, are you using it? Or have you stuffed it into a closet because it has unsightly stains? Take it out today, and work a miracle on it with a simple overnight soak. Then start using it again, and remember the maker with love this holiday season.

Here's more from Carolyn K:
My hubby and I love to travel and years ago I talked him into getting a t-shirt at every place we visited--instead of coming home loaded down with tchotchkes that would end up sitting on shelves or crammed into drawers. As a result, he has probably 50 or more t-shirts from all over the world.

He took notice of the fact that I got those pillowcases all white like new, so he asked me if it would work on one of his t-shirts that had gotten all dingy and yellowed. The photos speak for themselves!

I love hearing from my customers, especially when they send Before & After pictures! Carolyn K. sent photos of her vintage pillowcases with handmade tatting on the edges. She prefers old cotton sheets and pillowcases because they are often a much higher quality than newer ones, combining a crisp appearance with soft comfort. Over the years this pair had aged, though, and the formerly white fabric had developed a dingy yellow cast. Washing wouldn't remove the stains. After using it once, Carolyn wondered if Mama's Miracle Linen Soak was working because the yellowish tint hadn't completely come out. Then she realized that she had crammed too many items into the pot. Stained vintage linens need a little extra room while soaking—cover the batch with enough solution to keep them submerged but stir them around every once in a while for best results.
Now, after another try, success! The yellow pillowcase that she soaked again is dazzling white. Compare the Before & After—what a huge difference!

I know most of you like vintage linens, but today I'm going to show you my vintage granddaughter! Each year her school celebrates the 100th day of pre-K by having the children dress up like they are 100 years old. This is how she'll look in 95 years or so!
Maybe it's time for me to tackle the stains on those baby clothes saved since my childhood—I don't want to wait until I'm 100!

Our Story

Mama's Miracle Linen Soak is as close to a true miracle-product as it gets! It tackles the most difficult brown and yellow stains on vintage linens, lace, and clothing—restoring their original color with no harm to delicate fibers. The process is easy, the results are amazing, and that makes it fun to use!

I’m Shelley Stewart and this is my product. When I was a child, my mother used a hand-mixed concoction to remove stains from her heirloom tablecloths and napkins. I guess a fascination with textiles must be in my genes too, because a few years ago I decided to package and sell her formula. The result is Mama’s Miracle Linen Soak. I think it would make Mama very happy that her trusty formula has been refined and is still being used today.

In addition to appreciating beautiful old textiles, I’m a mother, grandmother, friend, former magazine editor, book writer, entrepreneur, reader, maker of things, seamstress, designer, gardener, dancer, home remodeler, enthusiast, and lover of cool old things and quirky stuff. And I believe in being kind and in telling the truth. So please don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions about using my product; just send me a message through Facebook or mamasmiracle.com.
