Community Tornado Help
Triad Basketball Academy Will open today from 5:00pm to 8:00pm to accept donations for tornado victims. Please donate food, clothing and goods. Thanks
Guilford County Schools
There will be no school for students & staff at all GCS schools on Monday, April 16 due to extensive damage and power outages caused by a tornado that hit Greensboro Sunday afternoon.
Essential personnel, facilities and maintenance staff will report as scheduled & directed by their supervisors.
Three schools were significantly damaged: Hampton, Peeler and Erwin Elementary. Others were without electricity late Sunday evening, including: Simkins, Falkener, Monticello-Brown Summit, Bessemer, McLeansville and Bluford Elementary; the Academy at Lincoln and Hairston Middle; Dudley High and Herbin-Metz and Gateway Education Center, Middle College at Bennett.
Glenwood Recreation Center 2010 Coliseum BLVD is being opened up as an emergency shelter for those displaced by the storm. There is a pickup location at Dudley HS with buses available for transportation
