Formed in 2009 as an electric-cumbia Latin dance group by former members of Fuga and La Colectiva, Candelaria has grown to develop a unique sound all their own, one loosely termed "cumbia-dub." Bucking the modern trend of programmed beats and computer effects, all of Candelaria's music and dub effects are 100% live and organic, all performed in real-time, on-stage and in their recordings. Having shared the stage with such musical giants as Jimmy Cliff, Los Amigos Invisibles, Celso Piña, Diego's Umbrella, Junior T***s, Bituaya, Black Nature of the Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars, and La Santa Cecilia, and featuring present and past members from Colombia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, El Salvador, Canada, Malaysia, and Peru, Candelaria truly reflects the beauty of the multicultural world we live in today and the diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area.
