For reference to a question:
Wexford’s Battle of Vinegar Hill becomes interactive through American company's new board game Irish history and board game enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the Battle of Vinegar Hill will be the focus of a game set to be released soon by American company The Historical Game Company (THGC).
Some coverage of our upcoming game on Vinegar Hill in the Wexford Weekly in Ireland: https://wexfordweekly.com/2024/09/01/historical-wexford-landmark-to-feature-in-new-board-game-to-be-released-later-this-year/lifestyle/. For those who want to follow along on the design and development of this game, I have set up a separate page to do so that is mentioned in a post below.

I made a playtest copy. It took a lot longer than usual. I plan to do a couple of solo games to spot any major flow issues. I have not changed any of the geography yet to see how the game flow works. The first game will be pretty much a historic play with the United Irish mostly in defense taking advantage of the defensive bonuses of Vinegar Hill and the Enniscorthy town buildings. The Crown forces will attack at historic locations too Though I intend to take advantage of the Pikeman Charge card when it comes up and I hope it comes up early. The few elite pikemen and most of the musket armed United Irish I put in the front line of the expected Crown attack. We will see how that works. I also needed to leave some retreat room to avoid losses when units get disordered. For game purposes, there are only 5 Crown detachment groups: Duff includes Loftus, Lake includes Wilford and Dundas, the others are just singular- Moore, Johnson and Needham. While the United Irish have unit limits on movement and attacks, the Crown forces are limited by detachments and sometimes a few other units. The limits usually make for some tense decision-making. The Crown player moves first. The next game I will mix it up a bit. I need to focus on the game objectives too. I will post some thoughts after the first playtest.
Sorry for the confusion. The game design discussion and updates for the Battle of Vinegar Hill game for those that want to follow along or participate are now on a separate page here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564653026253.
I think I might be imposing on the 1798 game page as it seems the admin is holding all posts for approval (which I totally understand) so to make the updates, design notes and discussion going, I set up a separate page for Vinegar Hill game design updated, questions and discussion here and anyone can share to the 1798 page or other pages if they so wish page and others can feel free to share if they so like: https: www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564653026253 Damian Shiels The National 1798 Rebellion Centre Wargaming 1798, the Year of Liberty, the Year of the French

Nice AAR with great commentary on the Battle of Wagram game:

Preliminary design of the back of the Kandahar game box.
Vienna 1683 and Isly 1844 are at the printer and should be out soon. Current plans for the next two releases are Kandahar 1880 and the Little Bighorn 1876. Kandahar has been designed for quite some time waiting for an appropriate release mate. I think Little Bighorn, a more recent design, would fit in nicely. Kandahar turned out to be quite the interesting battle and the British have a lot to accomplish to win.
The folks at Big Muddy Historical Gaming Alliance were at it again, this time on the Battle of St. Louis game and announcement of a possible 3D game on the battle in the future: https://bmhga.com/2024/06/06/semi-regular-retirees-game-06-06-24-the-battle-of-st-louis/. Sounds like the defenders of St. Louis prevailed in both games.
Big Muddy Historical Gaming Alliance giving the Cahokia game a go at their Wednesday game night:

Thanks to the great members of Big Muddy Historical Gaming Alliance for giving the new game Road from Disunion a few playtests today- particularly to Kevin F. who organized it all. I think we had 6 or 7 players and not only were the comments extremely positive on the gaming experience, but some good tweaks and small suggestions. Looking at a fall publication in conjunction with Blue Panther Games Still gathering some more feedback over the next month or so. Battle games Vienna 1683 and Isly 1844 are scheduled for June.

Playtest versions of the American Civil War game (final title TBD and this may get artwork similar to Road to Independence with a larger map). I am gathering some buffs and teens to playtest. 17 engraved dice will be included. There are 10 named Rebel ironclads to help defend the Rebel ports but it very unlikely all of them would ever be in play at the same time.
I have a few questions in the last couple days about an American Civil War game using the mechanics of the French and Indian War and Road to Independence designs. One indeed is in development. Early concept box back below but not final art. Includes 7 named ironclad counters and the emancipation proclamation adding an additional unit die and strategic defense unit.
Change of plans. I was hoping to have Ayutthaya ready to release with Vienna next month but it is not quite ready. There is a lot going on in that siege and the sources conflict widely especially about the metal fire towers, the Portuguese and Malay mercenaries and the number of Elephants. So the Battle of Isly which has been ready for over a year will be the companion release with Vienna. General Bugeaud's diamond moving defensive formation pe*****tes the Moroccan wasteland to force the surrender of the legendary Abd El Kader. The entire Moroccan army has turned out including the Black Guard elite cavalry and have taken a position on a large ridge in the path of the French with reinforcements expected from Beni Sassen on the French flank. The French must pe*****te the Moroccan lines and capture the Moroccan camp beyond and the Royal Rudel. An interesting battle and one that has not been gamed, with difficult choices for both sides.
The next release will be the Battle of Vienna and one other yet to be finalized title. The Battle of Vienna game should be an interesting game from the slog through the rough terrain above Vienna (unless you draw the guides card) to breaching the Turkish defensive lines and capturing all of the required objective hexes while being harassed by legions of tartars and light cavalry and having to deal with janissaries and some Turkish heavy guns. Options for release of the besieging troops and arrival of further tartars and light cavalry available across the river are included. 64 counters plus some bonus control markers, An April or May release and available from Blue Panther Games.
