The Kita Kuat Project will be organizing and facilitating a combination of after-school sessions, full day workshops and overnight camps in partnership with under-resourced government secondary schools affiliated with the U.S. Some sessions will look like 15-30 student workshops while others will be large camp programs consisting of 50-150+ students. Contingent on securing adequate funds, a minimu
m of fourteen workshops have been pre-scheduled to take place across the states of Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, Perak, Sabah and Sarawak between July 15th and August 13th, 2015. Through confidence-building and leadership activities, participants will be able to express themselves openly, forge solidarity with their peers and find power in the strength of their combined voices. These workshops will create a safe space for young women to share personal narratives, challenge societal assumptions and engage in critical dialogue. All aspects of this project will directly cater to the specific needs of each community involved. No two sessions will be identical. However the core message of this program will be consistent in every workshop: All young women deserve the opportunity to feel powerful, support each other and define their lives for themselves.
