I made this a no-sugar and diabetic-friendly recipe using cinnamon- and ginger-poached pears. The recipe is elevated with leftover sweet white wine and dates. And better yet only 5 ingredients and naturally sweetened with dates.
Poached Pears Recipe for Leftover White Wine | 5 Ingredients, Vegan, Healthy, Easy - Carob Cherub Healthy Vegan Poached Pears Recipe with dates and ginger. 5 ingredients, no sugar, WFPB (whole food plant based). Leftover wine = zero waste.
Minimalist 4-Ingredient Baba Ganoush Recipe
Ingredients:
Eggplants (2-3), lemon juice (1/4 c minimum), garlic, tahini (1/4 c minimum). Optional cumin and salt.
Instructions:
1. Slice eggplants in half and lay face down on baking tray with garlic. Face down is important to retain moisture.
2. Roast on 210 C until mushy. I like to keep the skin for texture, omit for smoother.
3. Once eggplants are done, add everything to a food processor. Process until your desired consistency (chunky or smooth). Taste if you want more acidity (lemon juice), salt or savory (tahini) notes. Thin out with water if desired.
This dish is typically served room temperature or chilled. It's amazing on bread (pita!!), salads or even massaged into kale to make a yummy salad dressing.

Calories in calories out is how we are supposed to lose weight.
But calorie-counting gets tricky with whole foods. One example is almonds.
Recent studies have show that even though we can calculate total calories in a food, that amount isn't going to be the amount we absorb. We absorb fewer calories from whole almonds than almond butter.
