Originally born in Dhaka, Bangladesh Sayem “70” Khan was an avid listener of American music, and when he moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts he was introduced a diverse world of music. While working on a post-earthquake relief housing project in Haiti, Sayem “70” Khan was convinced that his unique brand of Caribbean-inflected, socially conscious, intelligent music could find a broad and receptive audience. Music inspired by artists like Bob Marley, Nas, Thievery Corporation and Manu Chao he started recording his first single Ajana in 2012. The song quickly became a fan favorite and gained thousands of views on YouTube when he finally released the video in 2014. After finding success on social media Sayem would take to the stage and perform at venues
throughout the cities of Boston, Cambridge and eventually even New York at venues like Manhattan’s Bowery Electric. In 2016 he also began working with the local Hip Hop Organization Exceptional Minds Enterprises. He is deeply engaged in Boston’s music world and frequently collaborates with visual artists, videographers and other musicians on wide-ranging projects. Sayem is determined to contribute to the city’s vibrant cultural life and sonic landscape in a meaningful and enduring way. Performing state-to- state and completing recording sessions overseas has contributed to the
formation of Sayem “70” Khan’s worldly perspective that is infused in every song. By creating a message of positivity in English and native tongue Bengali and capturing the ability to bring people together his fan base has grown. Sayem has made it clear that this is only the beginning of his journey by sharing his vision of combining rhythm with a classic sound.
