My story ...
At the age of 8 years old, I would always have a pen and paper in my hand. I would constantly write down things and decided to keep it in a notebook. My mother would always encourage me to write and keep up with notebook that would later be called my journal. After a couple of years, I shared my journal at school one day. The content that I had inside my journal were poems. My teacher helped me to get to published in the local newspaper. I enjoyed watching the local news stations as a child, so I participated in Please Stop the Violence campaign with Channel 2 Action News. My poem, Please Stop the Violence that has been since revised was published in Stop the Violence Kits that were distributed to every middle school in the state of Georgia. I continued to write throughout high school and continued to write poems that were published in the the local newspaper. As a junior in high school, my teacher helped me be able to have the experience of a life time. I was able to hear Dr. Maya Angelou speak at Georgia Southern University. From that day forward, I knew I wanted to write a book and I wanted to share my poems with the world. My poetry book, From the Beginning Until, was published in 2016. This poetry book includes reflection on my life, spirituality, prayer, and how different people have made an impact on my life.
