Unique writing instruments hand-crafted from environmentally friendly materials I take great pride in my work and am often called a perfectionist.
About The Reuse Workshop
My name is Don Carlson and I am a computer software quality assurance guy by trade, but I love working with my hands. I started The Reuse Workshop as an outlet for my newest hobby endeavor, writing instruments made from recycled or reclaimed materials. Each writing instrument is lovingly hand crafted in my little work shop, located in a corner of my garage. The time put in
to each item is no where near reflected in the prices, which is the reason why I can not afford to be a professional woodworker. I just enjoy my time in my shop and use proceeds from the sale of my creations to support my hobby. The materials
The materials I use to create my writing instruments are recycled or reclaimed. What does that mean? It means I go around finding wood and solid surface material that would normally be thrown in a landfill. So far I have collected 10 different species of wood and numerous solid surface material scraps. The sources include discontinued hardwood flooring samples, sink cutouts, old 2” solid surface material samples, some very used kitchen cabinet doors and a beaten up little night stand. I am also looking into renewable resources such as deer antlers (deer naturally shed their antlers every year) and materials made from renewable resources such as artificial burl wood made from sunflower hulls.
