Congratulations Preston Brown. I remember being in the football stands every Friday night when PB played at NWHS. His name was announced every 30 sec or so for a play. He was so fun to watch. Joe watched every Louisville game on tv and followed Preston’s career in Buffalo. Joe loved to sit with Preston’s dad on the bus for away games. He loved to hear Mikes Advice and take on life.
Preston and family now excel in local communities with his amazing non profit organization. The Brown Family is too notch!
Congrats again Preston!

JBF community Id like to ask you, once again, to pray for the family of Jeff Maher. Jeff was 24 years old and a brother of one of my Jackson’s friends ( Sean Maher). Jeff passed away last Sunday in a car accident. At 24 years old he was just starting his life. Terri and Glenn Maher said goodbye to one of their 4 sons yesterday. The grief and sadness that these parents will have to endure is unfathomable. They will need prayers and strength to endure such tragedy. Grief is life long and unexplainable, so hug your kids a little tighter and kiss your spouse!
“ Make the damn chili”!
So sorry for your loss Terri and Glenn Maher. May you find the strength to get through the most difficult time a parent will ever experience. So sorry to Sean at 13 years old had to lose his brother. 😇
May you feel the light breeze on a still day, or a flickering light on a new bulb, or a feather blowing where no feathers should be, or a gentle presence that feels as if an angel is hugging you to know Jeff is always in your heart. ❤️

Obituary for Lauren Ann Schummer at Mihovk Rosenacker Funeral Home 18/05/2024

JBF community if we could all take a little time to pray for Lauren’s family and especially her children. Lauren passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from a coronary artery dissection. Lauren was an OT that Amy Jae briefly worked with at the Jewish hospital when Joe was getting treatments but our committee member Amanda Garland worked closely with Lauren for many years and we are heart broken for her friends and family. JBF will certainly donate to her children’s funds, but if you feel inclined, I will post the Venmo and comments.

Congratulations to the NWHS winner of JBF 2024 scholarship… Kaleb Jones. Kaleb had 3 different nominations from staff. He didn’t know Joe so he went to Mr. Gilliand and Mr. Van Gaasbeck (both worked with Joe) and Brandon Schon (Joe coached him) to learn all about Joe to write his essay. Kaleb is well rounded in sports, academics, community and church. He was described last night as greeting teachers and asking about their day in the halls on the way to other classes. Kaleb, also, stepped up to be a caregiver for his young mother who had a stroke 5 years ago. He’s a natural caregiver! He’s gonna be a great doctor someday.
Go get ‘em Kaleb!

After the first Gala Amy Jae Bertram said she would never discuss dress code again… she brought it up and she is changing it up. Amy is wanting everyone to come “Casual for a Cause”…

Wear your favorite “ cause” (awareness or non profit) shirt. We decided to change it up this year. We are going casual ( jeans/ leggings) and your favorite cause T- shirt. You can wear any JBF shirt, the original Joe strong shirts, or orange for lymphoma awareness. If you don’t have any cause shirts please feel free to wear Joes favorite schools Colerain or Northwest shirts, UC shirts or any of those colors. If you want to dress up in fancy shoes, dress or suits then feel free. If you don’t have a JBF shirt then you’re in luck: Amy Jae has new shirts this year.

Ticket sale’s end a week from Monday, can’t wait to see everyone on the 19th!!
