I LOVE THIS SIGN ❤️👍🏻.
What do you think of this perspective?
How much time do you spend doomscrolling? Is there something else you can do, that doesn't demand too much of your tired brain, like scrolling, but might feel more meaningful and worthwhile?
Why would you talk to a therapist when you have friends... 😅
Regulation...
What do we focus on and how does that impact our direction? What questions do we ask, what conversations do we choose to engage in and does it elevate the quality of our lives, create integrity and community or does it create conflict, gossip, judgments or rejection? How we treat or think of others is often a reflection of our own inner (often unconscious) world.
Do you have 8 minutes...?
I hope you're all having a relaxing/enjoyable break.
Don't be an ass-umer...
It's common for people in therapy to say what they think the therapist wants to hear. It's normal, understandable and a taught response to avoid rejection. However, it's not very helpful for the person in therapy and it makes it hard, if not impossible for the therapist to see through this and do their job well.
Likewise, I've heard many stories of people saying they don't feel anything when sharing stories of their trauma. You can try what this person is suggesting or try finding a therapist that can help you connect with your body (embodiment or somatic therapy/coaching) to move beyond the cognitive and into your physical experiences. Often our bodies hold on to things our minds are ignoring.
Why are you bothering me amidst reading, human??
I was at a "story saloon" yesterday and we were asked: What's the book that made the biggest impact on you in your life?
Mine is Victor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning. It gave me a much needed existential kick up the butt.
The second one, which I'm still reading but is already really challenging my understanding of love (in a healthy way) is All About Love by the (sadly, late) bell hooks.
What about you?
