Reading this book at 40, and I wished I had this book in high school. Developed by professors from d.school, the book is used by students in a course of the same name, to help them build their best life. Frameworks in the book has helped me understand what I love and am good at and where my energy levels are. I recommended this book to nearly anyone I meet and when I was giving a talk to students at . If you’re at the crossroads, pick this book up. It’s life changing.

I was invited by .sg to be on a panel called Discover@YIJC: E-Commerce at the where I imparted my story and wisdom to the Y1 and Y2 on what I do as a Product Manager, the E-Commerce industry, and my education and career journey. Moderating for me was ._ who made me look good and was excellent emceeing and moderating with her questions.

Helping students figure out what they want to do in life is important to me. Lacking the environment and network that limited my worldview and thinking affected my decision making that made me take the path less travelled. I wished I had a mentor with me early in my life to help challenge my thinking and help inform me of what’s the best way for me forward.

Today, I keep 4 to 6 people I identify as my role models and mentors whom I reach out to on regular and as-needed basis, when I need some help figuring out what’s the best way for me forward.

This event nearly never happened. But luckily God was on our side. And I hope the students came away with some nuggets of golden wisdom.

Congratulations to students who received their O level results today. I hope you did well and go on to achieve more at Tertiary level.

For those that didn’t do too well or not as expected, remember that this is only the beginning and the only way is up!

I have met many people who did poorly in O levels and still managed to earn their degree. And I know many people who don’t even have O levels and are very successful millionaires by being willing to work harder than anyone else.

You are not defined by your grades. You’re defined by the impact you leave on others. So keep building towards your dreams!
