Theatre Kalamazoo Presents: Intimacy Staging and Direction Workshop with Elizabeth Terrel, Director of Voice and Movement at WMU School of Theatre and Dance.
Saturday, May 18. Part 1, 10am-12pm. Part 2, 1-3pm. Location: WMU. Must register ahead of time. Description below:
Part 1: Intro to Intimacy Staging/ Direction: this 2-hour workshop will focus on what intimacy direction and intimacy staging are and why we use them. We will practice communicating about intimacy in non-threatening ways, and explore considerations related to staging intimacy. All participation is voluntary, and clear boundaries will be communicated and honored. There will be time for a question & answer period.
Part 2: Intimacy Staging & Practice: This 2-hour workshop is intended for those who did part 1 last year with Siobhan Richardson or who are doing part 1 on the 18th, and focuses on implementing the process of communicating and honoring clear boundaries. Participants will practice communicating about and designing moments of intimacy in non-threatening, carefully articulated scenarios. Again, all participation is voluntary. There will be time for a question and answer period.
