Do not get taken in by product advertisement. Research and study your breed, determine HOW your cat's coat (or skin) should feel and look, LEARN how to groom correctly!
Just because the product is expensive does not mean it is the best product for your cat!

CFA Board Meeting Teleconference
January 5, 2016
Attending: all BOD members but C. Bizzell; Terri Barry, Verna Dobbins, Monte Phillips, Tim Schreck, Mary Kolencik, Shino
Wiley (translator for Mr. Maeda).
Below is what passed:
NATIONAL SCORING/AWARDS for 2016-2017 Show Season
For the 2016-2017 show season:
1. Create three geographic areas for NW titles:
a. Regions 1-9
b. ID-China
c. ID-Other
2. The number of NW placements for Regions 1-9 will remain at 25 in each category. The number of NW
placements for the other two areas will be set according to the ratio of present cats in those areas compared to
present cats in North America. This calculation will be done by using a formula created by Dick Kallmeyer (i.e.
not a programming change for Computan). The ratio will be calculated based on a full season of data from the
2015-2016 season and released in May 2016 on the CFA website. This means the number of NWs in the two ID
areas will not be in the show rules. The show rules will identify where on the CFA website to find information on
the distribution of NWS. The distribution of NWs will be updated each May after the final show counts are
reported to Central Office.
If we were to apply this formula to the counts ending with December 6, 2015, the distribution would be:
R1-R9 K-25/C-25/P-25
ID-China K-17/C-13/P-2
ID-Other K-4/C-6/P-3
3. The minimum points required for any NW in any area will be as follows: Championship – 4300; Kitten – 1800;
Premiership – 2200. These values will be in the show rules and will not change until the board or the clubs
decide to change them. The BOD will review these minimums for potential adjustment for the next show season
at the February board meeting.
4. The residency requirement for NW titles will be the same as the residency requirement for the regions but
extended to the geographic area level.
5. Cats that earn points at shows outside of their area can keep those points for the NW award.
6. No more than one NW per category per cat per season
7. Breed Awards not included; Other awards – DW, RW, Agility – not affected
(note: a vote was taken to expand breed awards to top 3/ch’ship/breed but failed)
8. International Show – not used for residency, everyone keeps points, not used in any calculations to determine
the number of awards per area.
9. All NW awards will be presented at the annual banquet.
10. Do not create an overall “GW” award.
Cost of expanded awards (2016-2017 show season) and mechanism of awards presentation:
Will be discussed at future board meeting(s).
========================================================
NATIONAL SCORING/AWARDS for current show season (2015-2016):
Implement proposal above, but amend #2 – Top 25 in each category, providing minimums are met.
(The minimum points required for any NW in any area will be as follows: Championship – 4300; Kitten – 1800;
Premiership – 2200; these minimums will apply in each geographical area: Regions 1-9, ID-China, ID-Other).
Cost/Presentation will be discussed at the Feb. BOD meeting.
Actual Minutes of this Meeting will be published.
Respectfully submitted,

What IS Show Quality?
A cat that has no disqualifying traits and meets the criteria required as stated in the breed standards for that breed and registry.
Whether the cat should be shown or not is another matter for discussion!
CFA Breeders & Exhibitors, kindly take note of the following changes in fees:
Household pets for CFA show season 2015-2016.
Dear Exhibitors,
Kindly note that w.e.f. THIS WEEKEND, the new rules for the HHP and scoring for Grand Household pet (GH) comes into play. Please be advised of the following:
a) All HHP aged 8 months and above MUST be neutered/spayed. (Old rule, STILL IN FORCE).
b) ONLY RECORDED HHP cats (with CFA) are eligible for titles. (For further information on this, please refer to Article XXIX [page 28] of the show rules)
c) You can get your HHP recorded by CFA for US$13 and using the simple system at ecat.cfa.org. Registering yourself on the ecat system is FREE, the recording of the cat is NOT.
d) Please DO NOT ask anyone else to register the HHP for you on the ecat system, the owner of the cat will automatically be under the name of the person logged into the system.
e) If you do not wish to use the ecat system, your HHP can be recorded at any show in one of 2 ways:
a) submit the form to the entry clerk and pay the US$15 (US currency preferred) with the entry fee OR
b) simply bring the completed form and US$15 to the show hall and have it received by the master clerk.
(I do NOT recommend this method at all! It is preferred that you register your HHP contender online!)
GOOD LUCK and May the best HHPs win!
