Loved this herbal medicine making workshop with Nathaniel Whitmore, such an incredible wealth of knowledge and expertise. We explored a variety of herbal preparations, including tea infusions and decoctions, tinctures, and salve. Potion making at its best, children especially love it!

The plant kingdom supports our health from providing the clean air we breathe, filtering the water we drink and providing the food to eat, not to mention the beauty and balm that it brings to the mind, body and soul.

The forests are home to thousands of species of medicinal plants that heal wounds, cure disease, treat ailments and support our wellbeing.
Educating ourselves allows us to take more responsibility for our health rather than automatically handing over to pharmaceuticals who often favour profit over people.

Taking the time to learn about plants and the herbal medicines that surround us, is such a magical way of cultivating a relationship with the natural world, allowing us to connect even more with the incredible lands that support us.

In doing so we come into an even greater appreciation for the bounty this earth provides us; she truly provides all and our forests are a living pharmacy. May we take the time to consciously connect and take care of the land that supports all life.

During our last Facilitator Training Input weekend, we explored various types of dis-regulated breathing, noting the most common patterns you're likely to encounter. These patterns are so common that both you and I have likely experienced them ourselves.

It was decided by the group that "dysfunctional" felt quite sharp, so we chose the term "dis-regulated" instead. This felt more approachable, encouraging us to meet ourselves where we are and work from that place, supporting breathers to shift from dis-regulated breathing to a more balanced breathing state.

▶️ Touch is a primal form of communication. From birth, it's through touch that we first experience love, comfort, and security.

▶️ Physical contact strengthens our relationships and deepens our sense of belonging.

🫁 In breathwork, touch can support an individual in coming into physical contact with areas within the body that have been holding emotion or trapped energy, giving it presence, acknowledgment, and passage to move. 

🙌🏻 Throughout this month, we will be looking more closely at touch within breathwork sessions. Stay tuned!

Coherence breathing is one of our favourite conscious breathing techniques! So simple and effective for bringing yourself into balance and can be done anytime, anywhere. 😌

Coherence breathing lets us engage the diaphragm in a rhythmic way, boosting circulation and enhancing brain function, helping nourish every cell in our body 🌬️

As we breathe in, the diaphragm moves downward, pulling blood from the extremities to the chest. When we exhale, it moves upward, sending blood to the brain and extremities. This dynamic circulation happens when we breathe deeply and rhythmically.

During coherence breathing, our nervous system shifts between sympathetic (active) and parasympathetic (calm) states. This seesaw effect creates a balance and harmony in our body and mind.

Actively bringing to mind positive emotions such as joy, gratitude, happiness, or fond memories has been shown to create cardiac coherence - the heart-body-mind connection is powerful.

What thoughts, feelings, or memories bring you a feeling of warmth in your heart?
Add this to a coherent breathing pattern, and you have a beautiful resource that supports your nervous system and sense of well-being ❤️

We wanted to highlight the relationship between breathing and blood pH levels.

We often hear about the amazing work the kidneys' do to regulate pH levels and diet gets given credit here too, but rarely does the breath get a mention as a key part of blood pH regulation.

How we breathe can impact the blood pH within minutes! It's something we go into much more detail about in our training courses. (links in bio!) 🌿

🌬️ Have you tried Conscious Connected Breathwork before? Are you a newbie or perhaps a seasoned breather? ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​In this post we wanted to share more about the actual technique and equally as important, the modifications available.
We invite you to be curious and play with your breath! Modify the breath to meet yourself where you are, finding a place, depth and rhythm that feels good and is right for you, a place where you feel embodied and you will then be able to build from there 🧱

Perhaps start with a few Conscious Connected Breaths 💫
Take 10 breaths and see what stirs, coming back to a gentle nose breath to notice how you feel ✨

Contraindications are important to consider when changing our breathing pattern but they do not mean you cannot participate in a breathwork session, again, you will just need to modify how you breathe so your breath can work with you in the way you need.

Breathe with us on the final Thursday (8:30pm), or every Friday of each month (1pm) where we will hold you in an extended CCB session, and where you will learn all you need on modifications to suit you, before inviting your extended CCB practice 🌀
