Seisuke Knife

Seisuke Knife Japan made a visit to Tanabe Tatara in Shimane, one of the last forges in Japan that smelts Tamahagane, or jewelled steel from iron sand, which has been used for Katana since the time of the Samurai.

We hope to share with you the effort and craftsmanship that goes into the smelting of Tamahagane, a process that requires 24 hours of vigilance to ensure that the final steel meets the criteria to be turned into works of art.

We are proud to be partnered with them and the craftsmen that make knives from Tamahagane that was provided by Tanabe Tatara.

These are the lightest knives we have ever carried. 🍃 Made by Jikko Cutlery, the blades are forged from stainless VG10 steel. The handles are hand-carved from cherry wood in the shape of a western handle but with the half-tang construction of a Japanese handle. Both the craftsmanship of the thin blades and the design of the handles allow these knives to be so lightweight. 🌬️

This series is just another example of Jikko Cutlery continuing to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible with kitchen knives.
