Say hello to Brian Grosz!! 🎶

Brian sings bass in the choir and he says that he likes singing a great variety of challenging music without an extreme commitment. Also, being able to sing with so many fine, younger musicians has been refreshing!✨

Brian is the General Manager at Red Lobster. He enjoy’s movies, poker, and SKOL Vikings!!!

Meet Ronnie Ludin! She sings soprano in the choir and also runs the Chorale Nouveau Tik Tok! Follow us by searching .nouveau on Tik Tok 🎶 she loves getting to show off the talent of the Nouveau Musicians on a large platform!

Ronnie is an elementary music teacher in the area. Outside of teaching she enjoys foraging and rock climbing! Her favorite part of Nouveau is “making wonderful music with wonderful people!”

Everyone meet Alexa Hurd! She is an original member of the choir from 2020! She sings as a soprano and says that she has recruited many new members!

Her favorite part about Nouveau is that the people are great and it feels good to stay connected to music when it’s not otherwise integrated into her weeks and work.

Outside of Nouveau, Alexa works as a teacher at Wildlands School, a project-based charter school held at Beaver Creek Reserve. Lately however she’s been excited about reading, water coloring, and visiting garage sales on her free time!

We love having Alexa sing with us!

Meet our director, Kate Larson! Kate brought the choir together in 2019. Due to Covid, Chorale NouvEAU was brought to a pause. With Kate’s passion, she brought the group back together to what it is today! Here are a few words from Kate on who she is, and what she loves about NouvEAU!

“One of my favorite parts of this job is programming—I love finding interesting repertoire! But perhaps my favorite thing about NouvEAU is the relationships I’ve forged with so many amazing humans. It is a truly amazing group of people!”

“In addition to NouvEAU, I also direct the Christ Church Cathedral Choir, and this fall will be co-directing the Stand In the Light Memory Choir. Besides directing choirs, my most favorite job is being mom to my three kiddos!”

Let’s give it up to our amazing director Kate Larson!

He loves that he can use his professional skills and bring them to Nouveau to aid our organization. Collin says his favorite part of Chorale Nouveau is the variety of music we perform and the many different singers the choir has!

Our Story

As my dream of forming a new choir began to take shape, I pondered the right name for the ensemble. It was during this time that my family was watching a lot of the science series NOVA on PBS. My children love choosing new episodes to watch about every subject under the sun! One night it came to me. I love this spirit of curiosity and discovery, of investigating and digging deeper. This is what I love about the rehearsal process--digging deeper into a piece of music to figure out what makes it tick. “Nova” also means “new” in Latin, and thus began the quest to incorporate this spirit of “nova” into the name. When I came upon the phrase “à nouveau” in french, meaning “again” or “anew, afresh,” I knew I had the perfect way to tie my inspiration into the Eau Claire community I love.

Chorale Ă  NouvEAU (“choir anew”) of Eau Claire, WI is an auditioned adult community choir of mixed voices dedicated to enriching, serving, and connecting our community through song. The choir offers the opportunity to learn a diverse range of choral repertoire in an inclusive and collaborative setting. Rehearsals will be Tuesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.m. beginning September 10, 2019. Auditions begin June 3! Please contact director Kate Larson at [email protected] to set up an audition date and time. Come be a part of this fresh new voice in the Eau Claire area!

About the Director

A native of Altoona, Wisconsin, Kate Larson holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education from St. Olaf College. Kate taught high school choir for 11 years, the last 9 at Mound Westonka High School in Mound, MN, where she directed all curricular choirs as well as a vocal jazz ensemble. Mound Westonka choirs under her direction were selected to perform at both MMEA and ACDA of Minnesota state conferences as well as twice at the Minnesota Choral Arts Finale at Orchestra Hall. In 2014, Kate was honored as the Outstanding Young Choral Director of the year by the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota.
