For the past four years old Sylvesterians, individually & in groups were assisting the rugby union financially as well as materially to develop the standards of rugby in the college which was at a very low level. It was due to the untiring efforts of these Sylvestrains along with the rugby union, that the team has arrived in the B division of the Sri Lanka Schools rugby league. The existence of a
formal body to assist, manage, improve the standards & sustainable development of sports in the College was realized at a recent gathering of like minded Sylvestrians who are involved in assisting various sports in the College for the past so many years. Sylvester`s College Kandy Sports Development Union” was formed as an umbrella organization to further the aforementioned goal. Since the majority of these old boys are involved with the rugby development activities, it was decided to assist the development of College rugby as our pilot project & subsequently branch out in to other sports such as boxing, cricket etc;
