to the EmblemHealth family of companies at the NYC Pride March. Prism, our LGBTQ+ employee resource group, marked the end of Pride month by gathering 35 employees and their friends and family for NYC Pride. The largest Pride march in the U.S., over 26,000 people gathered this year to share their pride, joy, love, and enthusiasm on the streets of Manhattan. Although the weather caused the march to shut down right before Prism was poised to march onto the 5th Avenue route, this did not dampen their spirits. Special thanks to AdvantageCare Physicians Director of Regional Operations Carl Rene, who coordinated the gathering of Prism marchers in front of the Flatiron Medical Office to pick-up their company Pride t-shirts. Also, a shoutout to co-Group Leader Avisha Sanassie, Diversity Initiatives manager, for assisting with the complicated logistics leading up to and the day of the march.

If you’re a person with diabetes, following a healthy summer travel routine can be challenging. Here are a few ideas to make it easier. Keep meds close: Always carry your diabetes medicines in your carry-on bag to avoid loss or damage. Pack extra: Bring more medicine than you think you'll need, just in case of delays or emergencies. Stay cool: Store insulin in a cool place. Use insulated bags or cool packs for long trips.
Keep documentation: Have a doctor's note and prescriptions on hand, especially if traveling internationally. Monitor often: Check blood sugar levels regularly; jet lag and unusual foods can affect your levels. And don’t forget to check in with your P*P (Primary Care Provider) before you go! https://www.acpny.com/find-a-provider

Here’s a simple question: When was the last time you visited a health care provider for any reason? For men, there’s a good chance it has been quite a while.
