We had so much fun celebrating kids with cancer (and their families) at last night's Going Gold For Cancer event, sponsored by Wesley Children's Hospital. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success. It was Dino-mite!

'Going Gold for Cancer' recognizes, honors kids with cancer Around 400 people came out to the event including about 50 children diagnosed with cancer.

Thanks to our friends at the Kansas Children's Foundation, we now offer monthly Family Meet-ups for kids with cancer (ages 0-18) and their families! In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we're offering TWO this month!

Camp Quality Kansas is currently recruiting doctors, nurses, CMAs, social workers, psychologists/psychiatrists, and child life specialists to help with summer camp!

Volunteers must be licensed in their respective field, be 18 years or older, be able to pass background and reference checks, and be current on the following immunizations: MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Covid-19 primary series.

This year, we are partnering with Camp Quality Greater Kansas City to provide Wichita kiddos with an in-person, resident Summer Camp from July 10-15 at Lake Maurer Retreat Center in Excelsior Springs, MO!

We will also offer a CAMP IN program for those unable to make it to camp and send camp to you.

Who can participate? Kids with cancer - in any stage of treatment or recovery - and their siblings, ages 5 to 17.

We know the drive to Excelsior Springs (just northeast of Kansas City) may be a trek for many of your families. This year, to help make their journey to camp a little easier, we will provide Travel Assistance to families who would normally participate in Wichita's camp. Assistance will include (at minimum) hotel accommodations for two nights and $200 to help with food and gas.

Meet Dalton! He is a normal 13-year-old, but his life hangs in the balance. Dalton was diagnosed with Castleman’s disease, a very rare disease affecting the lymph nodes, and unfortunately, he has two tumors in his right lung that are affecting his breathing and wiping out his immune system. He has been fighting cancer for four years.

“I have been lucky to be able to attend Camp Quality,” said Dalton. His mom added, "The Camp Quality organization is amazing from the top down. I am blessed that my kids have another safe place to be with individuals that are just like them. Everyone is like an extended family.”
