Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and The Emancipation Proclamation. I attended Sunday school and learned that more people died in religious wars than in all other wars combined. I quit Sunday school after realizing that, “Do unto others as you would have others unto you” was all I needed to remember. I became active in student government in elementary and high school – I was never part of any social “group”. I was still afraid. I physically and mentally drained myself playing competitive tennis in high school – fighting and losing battles to allow girls try out for the boys’ tennis team. Oftentimes, there was no fear. I did a lot of marching in college, especially for civil rights. I saw a lot of hate. I was afraid. I was in law school when JFK and Martin Luther King were assassinated. I carried my passport and cash with me at all times, prepared to leave whenever necessary – so I could never be taken away. I was very afraid. I became a lawyer, married and had children. I worked for the Legal Aid Society in Criminal Court. I believed then – as I do today – that our justice system, though flawed, is the best in the world, and that the rights of all defendants are protected by the Constitution. Then, my mother was mugged – and my children viewed me as overprotective. I was really afraid and confused. Life went on with many blessings, problems, and the dilemma of being a working mom. My busy life lessened the episodes of fear. The shock of the attacks by al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden on the World Trade Center on 9/11 was indescribable. The War on Terror and the invasion of Afghanistan to depose the Taliban has changed the lives of people worldwide. I was terrified. I scribbled a peace sign with its “arms” going upward on a scrap of paper. I drew a biblical symbol of life, with its “arms” going downward, in the middle of the peace sign. The paper stayed on my desk for weeks. Without much thought, I decided one day that the drawing could be a new symbol for peace and the importance of life; and I imagined this message as a pendant. On that same day, I went to a local jeweler with my scrap of paper and two weeks later I had the pendant I call PEACE AND LIFE™. Wearing the pendant on a chain everyday became a mysterious source of comfort. After several weeks, I thought others might have the same reaction. But first, I had to figure out the reason the pendant was a source of comfort. I was consumed with finding an answer. I was less afraid. It came to me in the early hours of the morning… in a dream. The comfort comes from the conviction that ONE PERSON BELIEVING IN PEACE AND LIFE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. This dream of mine… has given me hope. warriors

The realization of Peace And Life hangs in the balance of our ability to educate future generations about the importance of respecting and accepting individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their religious beliefs or other ideologies. Schools and universities worldwide must take on the responsibility of shaping young minds to value diversity and promote inclusivity. (Peace And Life always interested in desserts of people from different cultures - it’s amazing how many friends are made discussing food, or in my case, desserts!) our nation is deeply fractured, Hopefully, we can find a commonality in our respect for our county and its laws. We honor those who gave the greatest sacrifice for the freedoms we all enjoy today. Even the right to disagree, peacefully.

A decade ago, I created the PEACE AND LIFE symbol. It incorporated historically iconic elements to remind us to achieve Peace And Life through tolerance and respect for all cultures, religions and people of the world. Sadly, the October 7th attacks in Israel were a stark and frightening reminder that Hamas, and its global allies, instead stand for the brutal and total annihilation not just of an entire country but an entire race of people. Historically, these types of barbaric attacks would have instantaneously united the world, demanding for the immediate release of the hundreds of prisoners taken and the full surrender of the imperious army that committed so many atrocities. Yet, the opposite seems to be happening.

Even the entertainment industry, a powerful voice that has long -stood for the rights of those unjustly attacked, has been quiet. The recording artist, John Ondrasik (stage name Five For Fighting), who recently released a song, "We Are not All Right". His song condemns antisemitism in American Universities, across America and the world. He cites the Oct 7th massacre of the Jews, the worst since the Holocaust, as his inspiration. This brave and outspoken songwriter calls his song and music video an "anti-evil video" yet it has gotten little attention by his industry and the news media in general. And he now asks, "Why"? Why so many in the music industry have remained silent? Why is it hard to find on search engines and social media sites? Why is it so hard for the public to see?

If we can't condemn evil, there will be no PEACE AND LIFE.
If we don't unite, there will be no PEACE AND LIFE.
If we remain silent, there will be no PEACE AND LIFE.
If we don't end antisemitism, there will be no PEACE AND LIFE.
If we don't believe Israel should have their own homeland, there will be no PEACE AND LIFE.
If we don't teach our children that we are all the same, regardless of religion or beliefs, there will be no PEACE AND LIFE.

PEACEANDLIFE needed a crown during the pandemic. My new young dentist, noticing a few old tooth tattoos on my other crowns (a heart and a peace sign) thought having Ruth Bader Ginsburg wearing the PEACE AND LIFE® pendant was cool. He contacted a lab in Wisconsin, emailed the photo on the left with my drawing of the symbol - and the picture on the right is the result. "Notorious RBG" earned this nickname through decades of fighting for equality on and off the bench. Peace and respect for every life...the PEACE AND LIFE® pendant mission would make RGB proud.
