Welcome to Sue Simon Studios! I am a graduate of the Medical Illustration program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I received my MS in 2002. My undergraduate studies were at the University of Connecticut, where I received my BFA in Illustration. My work over the years has encompassed everything from illustrating children's books, to entomological field guides, to anatomy books to lo
go design, interactive educational materials, watercolor portraiture, med-legal work and pharmaceutical illustration. I currently work at the University of Texas Health Science Center as their medical illustrator. My portrait work is one of my first true loves as an artist. I believe that portrait painting isn't just about capturing correct colors, or how the light catches an animal's eye.. it's about the soul within. I want anyone who has me complete a portrait for them be able to look at that painting and have their own soul filled with the love that animal gave them. For many of my clients who have lost their friends and chose to honor them with a portrait, I do hope my work can help to keep that deep connection strong, and help heal. I am always happy to accommodate special requests, and look forward to hearing from you.
