Kid Sister - Frozen Delight

Join Kid Sister this weekend at Buccaneer Days, a unique celebration of the community of Esquimalt.

Find us at the Buccaneer Galley at the baseball diamond, serving up our favourite seasonal flavours: indulgent Double Chocolate ice cream and subtly tart Quince Vanilla sorbet mini cups, bright and sweet Wild Blueberry Lemon pops, decadent Fudge pops, and perennial favourite, refreshing Rhubarb Cream pops.

Since 1939, residents of Esquimalt have come together at Buccaneer Days for a pancake breakfast, rides at the midway, and a lively parade. We hope you’ll stop by for a sweet treat amidst the fun.

A little update from Kid Sister 🌸

You might have noticed that all of our current offerings are sorbets — unfortunately due to the federal Milk Industry Act we aren’t allowed to sell any of our ice cream through our retail partners. The rule applies to businesses who make their own ice cream base from scratch, which Kid Sister has always done (if you follow Cold Comfort Ice Cream Company you probably saw them post about their experience with “the Milk Police”).

We have the option to start using a commercially available pre-made base, but our ice cream wouldn’t be what it is without the truly exceptional organic A2 milk from our friends at Promise Valley Farm.

Since the first days of Kid Sister, one of our core values has always been to use the highest quality locally sourced ingredients, so instead of sacrificing making our own base, from now on our ice cream and cream pops will only be available at events around town and through custom orders, since direct to customer sales are still ok.

It’s a frustrating position to be in, and with government policy slow to change this might be the push we need to finally re-open a retail space. In the meantime, we’re excited to be filling the calendar with lots of events, including Buccaneer Days, the May Day Fair at Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse and Victoria Pride; and our books are always open for custom orders too 💖

A new year is here and it’s time for us to make space for new flavours. Help us clear out our freezers by shopping our first ever pint sale at Dumpling Drop — all pints are buy two get one free, including perennial favourites and one-offs!

Stock up for yourself or share with friends, but be sure to act fast because there are only a few pints of some of the flavours and they’ll be sure to sell quickly!

This weekend is our last event of the year!

We’ll be at the Winter Bazaar this Saturday and Sunday, December 2 & 3, alongside over 90 artists, designers and makers in the beautiful new Gorge Park Pavilion.

We’re partnering with who will be serving up affogatos, pouring their espresso over our Vanilla Ice Cream, and our menu is full of holiday favourites, including vegan sorbets and Boozy Eggnog Ice Cream!

December 2 & 3 at 1070 Tillicum Rd, 11 am - 5 pm both days, $5 entry fee. See you there!
