The Mid-South Sociological Association is excited to announce that the submission portal for the annual meeting is OPEN! We are currently seeking session organizers and paper submissions.

CALL FOR SESSION ORGANIZERS

As President-Elect, I am excited to invite you to become a session organizer for the Annual Meeting of the Mid-South Sociological Association to be held October 13-15, 2022, in-person in Nashville, TN, with a limited hybrid option for participants.

Theme: BEYOND SUNDOWN: SOCIOLOGISTS SEEKING PAST TRUTHS, PRESENT JUSTICE, AND POSSIBLE FUTURES

I encourage you to consider organizing a paper session, roundtable, workshop, or panel discussion that incorporates this year’s theme. All topics are welcome. You may propose sociological or interdisciplinary sessions.

You can submit a session through the online submission system. For help with submissions, please refer to the step-by-step submission instructions (also attached). If you have questions or prefer instead, you can send me your ideas for organizing a session (to: [email protected]), including a brief description (or working title if you have one), type of session desired, a list of the paper titles and presenters or panelists you have already recruited for your session, and your contact information. The deadline for sessions is August 15, 2022.

Types of Sessions:

Paper sessions: 3-5 individuals present their research with Q&A after

Roundtables: held at a round table; intended to have people interested in a particular topic discuss ideas, ongoing research, or ask questions

Panels: discussion about a particular topic guided by a group of expert panelists

Workshops: directed sessions with the goal of participatory learning

We also invite you to submit individual research paper, roundtable, and poster presentations from any and all disciplines, including those with an interdisciplinary focus. We are accepting on-site and virtual presentations. Please consider submitting early to help ensure a spot in the session of your choice. The final deadline is September 11, 2022.

Submit your paper title and abstract through the online submission system. Indicate whether you will present in-person or virtually. Select two – four keywords that fit your topic. For help with submissions, please refer to the step-by-step submission instructions (also attached).
