I am a ceramist/ jewellery designer who works from a garden studio! I us
Jewellery is unique in its intimacy and is driven by personal values as well as functionality. It is not essential and therefore an individual makes an absolute conscious decision to wear such adornment. My collection has evolved from inorganic solids such as crystalline clay minerals. The geometric contrasts with the organic and natural curves of the body, suggesting optimal tension between the f
ine edges of ceramics and the softness of skin. I form the geometric mineral shapes with a slip casting process and by attaching them to silver the pieces move with the body, draping and hanging simultaneously. The components are layered, extending the body’s silhouette, transforming and empowering the wearer. My jewellery process pieces are displayed in cohesive compositions, which enable the viewer to extract design elements that could be incorporated into future projects. These inspirations fuse traditional ceramic methods and new technologies. The collection does not fit into the classification of everyday jewellery or ceramics but is a hybrid of both and can be considered for collaboration with textile designers, fashion editorials, high-aesthetic stage performances, catwalk collections, and other special functions.
