Introducing, “MEDUSA” by Samitarium Sketches!!

Here we go!

My name is Samantha Jarrett, but I prefer Sam. I am a happily married, 27 year old mom to a 4 year old.

I am an artist in all meanings of the word. I’ve always had the fountain of creativity flowing through me, as I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. I have written poetry, short stories, and songs.

I am a musician -starting on classical piano when I was 10, and bass at 12. I have played in multiple bands, including my high-school’s jazz band where I learned upright bass! I have extensive knowledge in music theory. I am mostly self-taught in all things creative!

One of my biggest loves of life, outside of the creative realm, is animals! I have never lived my life without a pet, and I couldn’t imagine life otherwise. I currently have a German shepherd who is my ESA/personal protection dog, and a lovely long haired cat.

I work my artistry full time, on top of being a 24/7 stay-at-home mom. I also dog sit and house clean on the side. My goal is to become a tattoo apprentice when my kid starts school, and I would love to continue my digital artistry during that time as well.

I have a slew of health problems that I won’t go into too much detail about here, but I have 2 confirmed autoimmune diseases, and I am awaiting a rheumatologist appointment because my blood work is indicating there could be more. Life always finds a way to throw challenges at people.

I am a huge advocate of freedom of expression, critical thinking, and most importantly kindness and empathy! I truly believe that humanity would be lost without empathy.

Being an introvert, it takes me a long time to make personal connections with people -but I love supporting other creatives and am hoping to bring a sense of community to my followers! Southern Illinois doesn’t have a lot to offer for creatives, so please make yourself known here! I want to support you!

I want to give a big ✨thank you✨ to everyone who has supported me so far! It really means a lot to me, as a tiny, introverted artist just trying to make a name for myself. I hope you continue to appreciate my art and what I bring to the creative community here in Southern Illinois!

Tonight, I had the excitement of a new message on my Instagram -the hope of meeting a fellow artist, or perhaps even commission work… but instead this woman just… took a complete s**t on me.

There’s a reason why I hide myself away in my own little space, a reason why I am such an introvert, and even though I’ve been creating all my life -this is the first time that I have ever been open about my artwork. People are as****es, and I don’t always have the skin thick enough to bare their lashes.

Psychedelic Cthulhu is finished!!! I obviously had to listen to “The Call Of Ktulu” by Metallica while creating this piece.

I just finished up this line-up and I CAN NOT wait to throw color, texture, shading and highlighting on this one!!! Stay tuned!

This one speaks for itself. Thank you so much, to all of the lovely LGBTQ+ people who were my muses/models for these PRIDE projects.

I’ve had the greatest pleasure of working with a handful of local people within the LGBTQ+ community to create some Pride art.

As an active ally, it’s extremely important to me to highlight Pride month with my art. I might not be q***r, but I will always be supportive of those who are. I thought about doing typical LGBTQ+ famous icons, like Freddie Mercury, or Lady Gaga… but I really wanted to focus on the local LGBTQ+ community, because we all know that Southern Illinois could use some more awareness (and action) when it comes to the q***r community.
These beautiful people are part of our community. They are business owners, teachers, students, artists.

Thank you all, for being the color in our otherwise dull community.
