A Closer Walk with Thee God

"They knew God," but "they glorified him not as God."

They knew that there was a God; they never denied His existence; but they had no reverence for His name, they did not render Him the homage to which He is entitled, they did not glorify him as God.

Of many this is still true in this form, they never think of God.

They go from year to year without any practical thought of God.

Not only is He not in their words, but He is not in their thoughts.

As the Psalmist puts it, "The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not at all in his thoughts."

The marginal reading is very expressive: "All his thoughts are, There is no God."

Whether there is a God, or not, makes no practical difference to the wicked; they have so little esteem for Him that, perhaps, if we could prove that there were no God, they would feel easier in their conscience.

There must be something very wrong with you when you would rather that there were no God. "Well," says one, "I do not care much whether there is a God or not; I am an agnostic. "Oh!" I said, "that is a Greek word, is it not? And the equivalent Latin word is 'Ignoramus'."

Somehow, he did not like the Latin nearly as much as the Greek.

Oh, dear friends, I could not bear to be an "ignoramus" or an "agnostic" about God!

I must have a God; I cannot do without him. He is to me as necessary as food to my body, and air to my lungs.

The sad thing is, that many, who believe that there is a God, yet glorify Him not as God, for they do not even give Him a thought. I appeal to some here, whether that is not true.

You go from the beginning of the week to the end of it without reflecting upon God at all. You could do as well without God as with Him. Is not that the case?

‭Luke 12:22-31 BSB‬
[22] Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. [23] For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. [24] Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storehouse or barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds! [25] Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? [26] So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you worry about the rest? [27] Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. [28] If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith! Health is a treasure. Of all temporal possessions it is the most precious. Wealth, learning, and honor are dearly purchased at the loss of the vigor of health. None of these can secure happiness, if health is lacking. It is a terrible sin to abuse the health that God has given us; such abuses enfeeble us for life, and make us losers, even if we gain by such means any amount of education. "If you have room for Christ, the world will hardly find room of sufferance for you; you must expect now to be laughed at; now you must wear the fool's cap in men's esteem; and your song must be at the very beginning of your pilgrimage.

There is no room for you in the worldling's love. If you expect that everybody will praise you, and that your good actions will all be applauded, you will quite be mistaken. The world, I say, has no room for the man who has room for Christ. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. "Woe unto you when all men speak well of you." "Ye are not of the world, even as Christ is not of the world." Thank God, you need not ask the world's hospitality. If it will give you but a stage for action, and lend you for an hour a grave to sleep in, 'tis all you need; you will require no permanent dwelling-place here, since you seek a city that is to come, which hath foundations; whose builder and maker is God. You are hurrying through this world as a stranger through a foreign land, and you rejoice to know that though you are an alien and a foreigner here, yet you are a fellow citizen with the saints, and of the household to God. The student of the Bible should be taught to approach it in the spirit of a learner. We are to search its pages, not for proof to sustain our opinions, but in order to know what God says.
A true knowledge of the Bible can be gained only through the aid of that Spirit by whom the word was given. And in order to gain this knowledge we must live by it. All that God’s word commands, we are to obey. All that it promises, we may claim. The life which it enjoins is the life that, through its power, we are to live. Only as the Bible is thus held can it be studied effectively.—Education, p. 189.

‭Psalms 1:5-6 BSB‬
[5] Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. [6] For the Lord guards the path of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Beware of the attitude that says "I know that I am on the wrong road but I am not yet tired of it, I will repent and come back to God somewhere down the line" You may not be able to repent friends, because the further you travel that road away from God the harder your heart will get and the less you will think you have done anything wrong and the less you will think you need to repent.

Those who do not forgive live a miserable life. They do not sleep at night. They are bitter. They hate. Choose to forgive today.. It will make a difference.

‭Romans 12:9-13 BSB‬
[9] Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good. [10] Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another. Are you mourning? Be encouraged.

What the evil one fails to accomplish through persecution, he hopes to achieve through compromise. God is never caught by surprise, and even in the most challenging times He preserves His people.

Satan is an expert in quoting Scripture, placing his own interpretation upon passages by which he hopes to cause us to stumble. We should study the Bible with humility of heart, never losing sight of our dependence upon God. While we must constantly guard against the devices of Satan, we should pray in faith continually, “Lead us not into temptation.”

Men attend to Women for two reasons, S€X, and LOVE, but in most cases, men do not Marry for S*x or for Love, they marry for STABILITY.

Let me explain:
A man can Love you and not Marry you.
A man can have s£x with you for years without marrying you. But immediately he finds someone who brings stability in his life, he marries her.

What I mean by Stability is "Peace of Mind"
I have seen some guys who made this statement "I love this lady but I don't think I can spend the rest of my life with her.” Men are visionaries when they think about marriage, they do not think about wedding dresses, bridesmaids, anything that most Ladies thinks is fanciful.

They think whether this woman can build me a home, can she take care of my kids and I, can she give me PEACE of mind? Men don't like Ladies who gives them discomfort, this is why a man can stay with a woman for years and meet another in a month, then get married to her.

And when he marries you... Remember the most important thing is his peace of mind... Take it away and he will look elsewhere for it while you are still there with him... Returning it is not that easy... So don't take it away at all for your own sake
