Great photos by Colin T Carter, commander of the “Southern Brigade” at George Washington's Mount Vernon this wet weekend.

We are deeply appreciative of being offered the right of the line.

It was great serving with 7th Regiment of Foot, Royal Fusiliers, NC Volunteers, Grenadier Coy, Brigade of Guards 1776 -1783, and 23rd RoF.

Let’s go win some more reenactments together!!!

Join the 4th Coy., Brigade of Guards in America, Ltd. this Weekend on the 4-5 May at George Washington's Mount Vernon to make battle against the Continentals on one of our largest events of the year!

14/04/2024

Since the Brigade of Guards were not present at such a historic event as Battle Road, we deferred from attending as a unit. With that being our position, we supported members who wanted to attend be getting them situated with appropriate units. So we connected Brad G. to our brethren in 1st Regiment of Foot Guards who were portraying the 52nd RoF, Light Company, and then helped him get squared away for the event. I like to think we pulled it off, looking 🔥Brad!

Major company-wide work day, today, to get us ready for the 2024 season.

We had 10 members gather to both finish lingering projects and support two new members with a heap of new and refurbished kit.

Due to the weather, several more additional members had to stay in quarters, though they joined us virtually as they worked on their own projects.

It was an awesome day for 4th Coy., Brigade of Guards in America, Ltd.

A Frontier Thanksgiving - Mission: Milspouse 23/11/2023

Happy Thanksgiving from 4th Coy., Brigade of Guards in America, Ltd., and in recognition of the genuine military legacy of our membership we are honored to share an article written by member and military spouse Anna Fitzpatrick Layer that discusses the holiday from the perspective of the historical likeness of a military spouse from the 19th C (albeit not of our period, though we suspect the sentiment of transcends time and geography to a degree).

A Frontier Thanksgiving - Mission: Milspouse Thanksgiving can be a joyous holiday or a lonely one depending on what military life is like for you. Anna reminds us of the hardship of a Frontier Thanksgiving

So back to our shoot last weekend. Our scored portion resulted in a tie between our new member Joe Dupre and our drummer turned hatman Mateo Starace (who was sporting his brand new birthday long land built by Paul Ackermann).

This set off a sudden death tiebreaker shootout - where a 1 gallon water jug gave its life for the cause. Neck and neck our boys where, until Joe plugged the water jug without remorse, and secured the win, taking home an engraved guards flask as the prize.

Ever the sportsman, later that night, Mateo still helped Joe alter his new 1st Guards regimental coat to ensure proper fit.

Well the 4th Coy., Brigade of Guards in America, Ltd. Annual Live Fire and Family Retreat for 2023 is complete.

Perhaps most exciting is that it was attended by our new recruit and his two boys; one who was 16 years of age and able to shoulder a musket.

So while this video may not represent our best timing, we are pretty proud of our two new recruits integrating into 18th C drill and live fire for THE FIRST TIME EVER! Our recruits carried out the evolution safely and competently, and we couldn’t be luckier to have them.

All participants fired more than 25 rounds conducting both scored individual and unit volley fire at 25, 50, and 75 yards.

Possibly one of the best pictures of the hobby, thank you HM 17th Regiment of Infantry in America, 1775-1784 for letting Her Majesty inspect us… 😊

Proud of our Sgt, Bill Patchak, who served as the senior NCO of our “Southern Brigade” today at the Battle of Monmouth

Note - the Southern Brigade is not a historical construct, it is instead group of like-minded units, who in history campaigned together, and in today’s reenacting community regularly brigade together for tactical events.
