This is concerning. I am offering two Youth Mental Health First Aid courses this year that are FREE to anyone who works in a Benton County school district. The only cost is the participant guide which is about $25 and that can continue to be a resource for you.

Proactivity beats reactivity.

Survive Today is moving away from conducting fully in-person CPR courses.

The newer model is known as a hybrid course. Students will take an online course that takes approximately 2.5 - 3 hours, then meet with me to conduct the skills portion, which takes 15 - 20 minutes.

Beginning in January of 2023, I will be offering skills check off the first Saturday of every month from 10 - 12pm if the need is there.

If you want to get certified in CPR and first aid, let me know and I'll get you the online portion, then we can meet for your skills evaluation.

Did you know if you are a woman you are statistically less likely to receive CPR in public from a bystander? I first learned of this 3 years ago, sad to see it hasn't changed. Bystanders do not want to expose women's breasts in public to perform chest compression and apply an AED. Furthermore, signs and symptoms impending cardiac arrest in women can present much different than that of men and are often passed off as indigestion.

To recap, signs and symptoms of an MI are commonly missed in women, then once they are in cardiac arrest bystanders are not doing CPR. Educate yourselves and the women in your family.

I did a Stop the Bleed class for my friends with Garrison First Responders last night. Great group of people who are eager to learn and do their best to manage your medical emergencies until EMS arrives.

Being a tactical practitioner involves more than knowing human medicine, you also have to know how to treat the working doggos! Vice versa, my vet friends who train handlers and EMS regularly, wanted to get educated on the human side of TECC!
