Nothing is promised to none of us that is why for the past year I have been hunkering down. I haven't been anywhere and haven't been doing much in the open only behind the scenes. I have too much to offer the world so I stay out the way.

I was wide awake too excited to sleep !
I love the irony of my story ! How I turned my life around.
In 2019 I made the front page of 3 local newspapers in one week because of my story and being selected to attend Mobilize Recovery for the first time !
Last year I found out I was selected to attend virtually because of the shutdown. It was a memorable experience even not being in person.
And yesterday I was selected again to attend in person for September 2021.
I been kinda in reflection mode and I just want to humbly express sincere gratitude to Ryan Hampton Garrett Hade Sean Henry Odonnell and any other person who made this happen for me !🤸🏿‍♀️🧘🏾‍♀️
Thank you for always believing in me !
So I will be in Vegas this September at a conference with individuals from all over the country !
This is not some average Vegas trip !

The name Chasenomore represents that there would be “no more chasing” that life of addiction, and that a better life was possible. Dedicated to presenting hope and seeking help for people struggling with addiction.

For a decade I struggled with an addiction that I didn’t know that I had and in 2010 after finding my pathway to recovery, I use to always say "I lost all these years because I chased and chased and chased pills till I almost died". I vowed to not stay silent about all I went through.
My new logo represents me a trapped bird 🦅 in a cage who found freedom and took her life back after a 9 year addiction to prescription painkillers. 💪🏾☝🏾🙏🏾

Iam honored to know her, we met in Vegas and instantly clicked. She is a Chicago doctor. Even though we come from different backgrounds. We still found common ground. I'm a person in recovery and she's a doctor.

As you all know my talks are very candid and in layman's terms very easy for people to understand. A teen, a elderly person, or a college student.


I will continue to share my story. Addiction absolutely does not discriminate.

🥺Dmx overdosed and suffered from a massive heart attack. He is in grave condition. He is in a vegetative state and it is said he may not make it.
I sware I hope he makes it out and gets the proper care. He has struggled with addiction his entire career.

DMX Suffers OD, Hospitalized in Grave Condition DMX suffered a drug overdose Friday night and is currently in the hospital ... and the prognosis is not good.

Changing the language that we use when referring to people with addiction can save lives.This is everyone's responsibility.
I have spoken at about 50 or 60 times with many schools, colleges, organizations and Podcast and many media platforms.
And this is just MY OPINION. I don't refer to myself as an addict or anyone in ACTIVE addiction as a ju**ie, pillhead, drunk, m**h head, dope fiend, crack head or any of this stigmatizing language. I have been working with organizations like Shatterproof and Partnership for DrugFree NJ to educate communities on how to address people with "SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER" These are your 3 words for homework.
From my own personal experience when I was addicted to opioids I was called a pillhead and a ju**ie. This terminology was traumatizing to me AND MADE ME STRUGGLE FOR LONGER THAN I COULD HAVE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS MY FAULT. When later learning that "Addiction is a brain disease."
I was ashamed and embarrassed.
I remember being treated like s**t everytime I had a doctors appointment or had to go to the ER because of severe withdrawal.
I was treated like an animal at a detox in North NJ one time I voluntarily went in because I knew I was going to die, and these people treated me like a wet foodstamp.
Doctors who tacitly see a patient’s drug problem as their own fault leads to substandard care or even to rejecting individuals seeking treatment.

I know there are many people who have been in recovery since the 80s and 90s and back then this was the terminology used. You a drunk, you a addict !
People with addiction internalize these stigmas, feeling shame and refusing to seek treatment as a result.
That language was OK 30 years ago. Now it's not. IJS🤷🏾‍♀️
I know that alleviating stigma is not easy, but we can start by how we refer to ourselves in active addiction and in recovery, not as a drunk or an addict but someone who suffers with SUD aka Substance use disorder. 🙋🏾‍♀️
You will never hear me refer to someone in this manner.
And being a professional in the recovery field it's only right !!!

There are people out here looking at your post like this 🙄 "I already did that, or I already did this, or she all hype over this or that. They be forgetting how far they came, and that they crossed a bridge to get to where they are too.
And let me tell you summ them tables always turn ! In my 10 almost 11 years of recovery it's been rough ! But I never had the desire to go back to pills ! You always here things like "oh I got clean now I'm living this lovely life of recovery, people don't talk about the real things they go through in ACTIVE recovery ! These stories need to be told too !!!!
In my early years I would say 4 years into my recovery all I wanted to do is share my story to help others. I didn't want people to go through what I went through ! I had organizations turn me down because I cold turkeyed, and I didn't 12 step it ! I reached out to 40 schools in NJ and none of them wanted to bring me in. I spoke at a venue in my own Township of Willingboro and they acted like my story wasn't valuable to the community and kind of rushed me off the mic.
But as I said before them tables turned !

Then being sought after by the DEA because they thought I was running a prescription drug ring because I had a 35 pill a day habbit but the pills was all for me !

Good morning since being in recovery I have met some of the most wonderful people and this is one of them. This woman I adore for she is the developmental editor that made my book come to life.
I met her on a business site last year. We scheduled a phone consultation, it was supposed to be for 30 minutes, it turned into hours. We bonded from the start ! She's from Tennessee and is a English teacher and professional editor.
I already had a manuscript but I was so lost on what to do. She asked me who did I want to read this book ???
I told her I wanted to put out a book trailer a short version of my book, a easy read before the year's end because so many lives were lost from addiction from the quarantine.
I wanted to give people hope.
I wanted to prepare people for my BIG BOOK. This book is an introduction. I wanted a book that any kid from age 14 and up could read and understand. I wanted a book a Grandparent could read easily, nothing technical or difficult.
And we worked some long days and long nights, and early mornings but got it done. In the process we became close friends.
I love her kids, she love my son.
You know if I love you, you get a nickname. I call her Ashbugggggg....

She brought my story to life and was meant to be a part of my journey.
She was one of the many supportive people in my life.

The moral of me sharing this... You have to trust the process, don't chase people for opportunities or support, don't force connections because every person meant to be in your life for this season, will be there.
