While I do not support global organizations that attempt to make rules for sovereign nations, I have always supported the ending of corporal punishment of children around the world, as this form of violence has caused incalculable trauma to children, with generational trauma and world violence as the result. This map shows the progress and long way we have to go to end legalized violence against children in our world.

Children's World Map 2024 Laos is the latest country to have achieved full prohibition of corporal punishment of children.

When our children "act out" or "act up," it isn't necessarily reflective of poor behavior, or mean they can't learn as easily as others do or have a mental illness. It can indicate that they are in distress and it's up to us, as adults, to look into what the cause is and to attempt to meet their needs.
