Do you believe in magic? Sometimes I forget that I do...
The other morning I woke up feeling angsty- anxious and blue and out of sorts. (When I'm in a mood like this my husband calls it my glass cage of emotion.)
The first thing I did was recognize it; sometimes just acknowledging the feeling(s) helps, simple as that sounds.
Then I thought about what I could do to make myself feel better, and, lo and behold - I went out and did it. And it worked.
For me, it was drinking water, getting ready for the day, and going for a walk.
There are other angsty days that I don't do any of this. I try to go back to sleep, I find an excuse to go on my phone and I let myself escape down a rabbit hole of scrolling. Or I do some other thing that won't make my mood any better.
But I consider what happened on that particular day a win. I noticed my feelings and I took care of myself.
We often think of self-care as more elaborate efforts to pamper ourselves, or daily habits to keep ourselves healthy. Self-care is also seeing what we need in a moment and doing what needs to be done.
What is one simple thing you can do to take care of yourself right now? Or, if you're feeling out of sorts right now, what is one healthy thing you can do to make yourself feel better?
Please share- I'd love to hear what works for you!
Sit with it...
Working on what I imagine...
I like this one...if only being tired of my own bu****it lead to a life transformation a little quicker 🙃
Happiness is…
when your teenage daughter a) goes for a walk in the woods and b) sends you this photo ❤️
What made you happy today?
I went for a walk around the neighborhood today, so no towering pines, mountain views, or interesting fallen trees. But I did see lots of pretty flowers.
And I thought of something my husband said the other day about finding grace in the mundane. He was referring more to finding peace and joy in simple everyday tasks, but it also made me think of seeing the beauty in our everyday surroundings.
These impatiens stuck in the hollow of a tree in our yard make me happy.
What’s a simple beauty in your everyday surroundings? 💐 Feel free to share a pic!! 📷
One of my favorite quotes about expansion...
I love the idea of expanding- growing, not staying stuck, breathing, stretching- and even the word "expansion" feels so good to me 🌟
I liked it so much I asked my daughter to write it out for me and I keep it on my desk 💕
More walking in the woods today…doesn’t this look like a turtle? 🐢 maybe more an old tortoise? Or is it just me??
I just finished reading Anxious People by Fredrik Backman.
When I read this quote I took a picture of it. I especially love the last part- "we're more than the mistakes we made yesterday. That we are all of our next choices, too, all of our tomorrows."
Thank goodness.
What are you reading this summer?
Trying to get my eating habits back in check too, after a less than in-check start to summer.
My first meal of the day yesterday and today:
Eggs
Spinach
Wasa Thin Rye Crispbread and Wholly guacamole
I will not say anything about the cinnamon rolls from last week 🤫
Summer throws my routines all out of whack...
After a week at the beach, with minimal good habits, I started doing some Pilates and went for a beautiful 3-mile walk in the woods 🌳
Loving this quote I heard yesterday...
(It's my version of Bob Proctor's version of a Michael Beckwith quote, a process to deal with anything.)
Trying not to think too much about how I select my clothes every day 🙈
(I'd have thoughts thrown over the closet door, crumpled up and shoved into a shelf, and I'd probably be wearing the same thoughts a little too often)
Hmmm... 🧐
choosing my path in some areas, just trying to get by in others 🤫
I love quotes and short little digestible bits of inspiration, things to think about, things that strike me.
This morning during my early morning sun exposure quiet time (EMSEQT??) I thought about a few things I love that give me those little bits of things to think about and thought I'd share them here.
The first is an email I get from the Universe every Monday through Friday morning. I might have to explain more at a later time or you can check it out at www.tut.com...
(This one might feel a little too woo for some, but it makes me smile every Monday-Friday morning. If you sign up for it make sure you read the P.S. each day, it's often my favorite part.)
The second is an Instagram page that shares a daily insight. I don't know how I came across it, but I follow it and I like it. Moon Omens
The third is a book, A Year Without Fear, by Tama Kieves. I read it cover to cover for a year when I first got it and now I come back to it every now and again. It's amazing how some messages are just so spot-on. You can follow Tama on Facebook and Instagram too. She posts quotes and 60-second videos and I love her.
These are 3 things that bring me joy or at least something positive to think about. Some messages resonate more than others...
Do you have a book, person, page that brings you daily joy??

Feeling this a little more lately...my new morning habit is good for this 🌟
This sitting outside in the morning sunlight has been one of the best things I’ve done…
I’ve been hearing about the importance of early morning sun exposure for a long time, but I haven’t really done anything about it.
Recently I started having my coffee outside- no phone, no book, just me and my coffee. Sometimes a family member will join me 🥰
It’s so good.
When my school was still open I could only do it on the weekends, the only time I could sit and have coffee. But now that school is over I’ve been doing it every day.
There are so many health benefits, but most importantly it just feels good ❤️
And the starting point of all of this is getting clear on what you desire.
The full quote is good too:
"The starting point of all acheiment is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat." - Napoleon Hill
Just going along with the busy-ness of day-to-day life makes it easy to forget about the big questions.
I am trying to make time each day to think about those.
Asking the question…
I'm looking for answers, but maybe not asking the right questions (or in some cases, any questions)...
If you want an answer make sure you are asking the question.
My sleep was terrible last week.
Going into this week with a goal of trying to get into bed earlier! Poor sleep affects everything else.
Wishing you a holistically healthy week 🌟
Get in harmony with it...
Had a brief encounter with the center of my being this morning during a meditation...
It didn't last long enough to get to the bottom of anything, but it was nice while it lasted 🌟
Working on what I'm giving my power to....
What do you have to gain?
