Takeover!!! Shira Kagan-Shafman graduated from CSW in 2017. She is a New York based dancer, choreographer, and multidisciplinary artist. Her works have premiered in theaters and museums around New York including, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Poster House museum, Arts on Site, Triskelion Arts and Green Space. She is a recipient of the 2023 B. Wilson Foundation grant for which she produced, choreographed and performed in a production of Works by Shira Kagan-Shafman at Baryshnikov Arts Center in the John Cage and Merce Cunningham Studio and was thrilled to be an artist-in-residence at Mother’s Milk in Fall 2023. Kagan-Shafman has also had the pleasure of performing in works by Joanna Kotze, Mariana Valencia, Roni Chadash, Noa Zuk and the Aston Magna Music Festival. Website: shirakaganshafman.com
Special Saturday Takeover! Nisani Lopez (she/her) is a Caribbean-American dancer and movement creator from the New York Metro-Area. She graduated from The Cambridge School of Weston in 2016. She then attended The George Washington University as a Corcoran Arts Presidential Scholar and graduated with honors in 2020, with a dual Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Dance. Nisani received the Nancy Diers Johnson Award for Outstanding Choreography. She has collaborated with artists such as Victor Rottier, Mark Caserta, Kayla Farrish, Winston Dynamite Brown, Maleek Washington, Brandon Coleman, Felipe Escalante, Elizabeth Dishman, Tiffany Rea-Fisher, Olivia Ancona, Jamel Gaines and Christopher Huggins. Currently, she is a freelance performer, movement educator and Pilates instructor.

Takeover time! William Huang ’19, recently graduated from Tufts University with a BS in Computer Science. As a member of the CSW dance department for all four years, he pursued a dual minor in Mathematics and Dance, completing his Dance Capstone in spring of 2023. William is continuing his studies at Tufts University towards a Master Degree in Computer Science. He is a proud alum of the CSW Dance Department and continues his dance journey at Tufts!
Our next takeover! Merissa Collins recently graduated from The New School with a Master’s degree and a Graduate Certificate in Media Studies and Media Management. A four-year participant in the dance department, Merissa graduated from CSW in 2015 and went on to receive a dual degree in Dance and Sociology from the University of Maryland - College Park in 2019. Merissa resides in New York City and is a leasing agent, film producer, and model. She is a proud alumnus of the CSW Dance Department and still wears her dance concert sweatpants regularly!

Our first takeover! Lauren Faberman is currently a junior at the George Washington University in Washington D.C. where she studies psychology and education. She graduated from CSW in 2021 and was part of the dance department for all 4 years. She is eternally grateful for the dance department and all that they offer.
