Crazy Monday over here y’all! and I are going to the hospital to have our baby later today! 🤯🤯I’m so excited and so terrified at the same time. I don’t feel ready or prepared but know I will never really be and only good things have come from doing things that scare the s*** of out me sooooo deep breaths. Leaning into the overwhelming gratitude I have for this moment because there have certainly been many many times I didn’t think it would happen.

came over early Oct to shoot the pure chaos of what our lives have been the past few months. I see lots of beautiful “put together” maternity shoots but it was important to me that we captured the imperfect raw of where we really were. Renovating our new home while balancing studio projects...moving... and most importantly growing a baby - cankles, horrible fashion, excruciating carpal tunnel hands, overwhelming exhaustion and all. This may be the last time we have a baby and it will definitely be the last time our home will ever be ALL WHITE. thank you for capturing the moment perfectly

I’m going to put this ship on auto pilot (with the help of my studio) and spend time with my family. I’ll be sure to check in when it feels right and introduce you to our son. I can’t wait! ❤️

MOVING DAY 😲!! Putting this here as a future reminder to myself of how incredibly challenging it has been to move my entire life and studio while renovating our new place SUPER SUPER pregnant…..but worth it. Exhausted and grateful. ….And perhaps a gentle nudge to look into some books on minimalism 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😝 onwards and upwards! And to never moving again 🥂

SOME NEWS! I've been horrible at sharing and keeping y'all in the loop lately so thanks for sticking with me. This pregnancy has my energy level equal to that of a potato + even before that I was just really burned out from feeling like I needed to document everything I am working on...video every process.... It was just becoming to disruptive to what I love about what I do and in my opinion not sustainable for any creative. Sooo I haven't been. I'm sure I will get the itch again but it's very freeing not to think about it as much. Anyone else feeling this way? What are we supposed to do?!

First up WE GOT A HOUSE! We have been looking for several years and so we are super stoked to finally find the perfect spot. We got it before flippers turned it into a grey lifeless hellscape AND there is enough land that and I will be able to build our studio on the property. We are now in the mad dash to reno before the baby comes to as I describe "get out the grandma crumbs and cig grease" and get it in a fresh place for our next chapter. I like to live in a space so we can design it more thoughtfully so it will be a long game but I am so excited for this new muse. eek I can't wait! Should I do a live to give you a tour?!

MY STUDIO will be MOVING TOO. Nothing like uprooting your ENTIRE life very pregnant! I will be setting up a paired down studio in the "game room" of the new house with overflow michaelporten 's studio. I think restriction and change can breed new creative perspectives and where it scares me a bit- I've been feeling like I need a major shift for a while now so I welcome it.

SMALLS DROP- LATE SEPT? Be sure not to miss this as it will be the last time I release originals until my show with Spring 2024. And it could be even longer before I revisit this scale since something tells me my time will be preoccupied with 👶 and the house/studio build

Today I am 40 🥳 Over the past decade I have lost good friends, a business I spent my 20’s building, my identity, “loves”, direction, time, lots of money, 75+ pairs of sunglasses, the desire and ability to wear heels, opportunities I really wanted, motivation, babies, and many times- hope - BUT I gained and learned so so much more.
A few key lessons from my 30’s:
-I showed myself I don’t need a partner (business or romantic) to make my dreams happen = confidence
-Sobriety is the greatest gift I can keep giving myself.
-If ignore my gut I ALWAYS regret it
-If someone is interested in/loves you they will show you - thank you
-Being kind and easy to work with goes a long way
-Talk about hard things
-Tune out what other people may want/like and focus on what you love (hard)
-I feel most myself in the flow of making
-It’s ok to say NO
-I have the best and most supportive friends, family and husband that make me feel like anything is possible and nothing else matters at the same time.
-It’s never to late to follow your heart and start a new career
-You can think and plan something to death- just do it. Take action.
-The size of my body ≠ my self worth (still deprogramming)
-No one has it figured out and if they say otherwise they are full of s**t
Gawd I could go on and on. If my 20’s were an exhilarating passion filled fever dream blurry rollercoaster let’s just say my 30’s were umm transformative.
I am moving forward into the next decade with all
the lessons + very little plans and I am open to what the universe has in store. The few goals I have are:
-Focus more on living than working
-Learn to play and rest without guilt
-Talk to myself in a kinder way
-Be more present in life/relationships
-Do more things that make me uncomfortable
-Keep learning + exploring
-Remain true to myself
-Embrace the color purple (very hard)
-Be a good momma 😉
I am so grateful for the opportunity to get older and thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way. Damn, I sure am one lucky gal. 🥹❤️

I found this picture of baby me in the newspaper recently on the depths of my phone and reading the caption gave me chills- I was in a mood and it immediately snapped me out and thought “well damn, it’s 31 years later and I’m still getting to do the same. How cool is that! “❤️ I think it’s easy to always be bogged down about what’s next, the next goal, the next thing on the list, all that hasn’t happened- I wanted to share this with you today as a reminder to take a second and soak in all that has and be grateful for all that will and be proud❤️

I’m slowly inching into 2023 and I feel these wise words from Roger Robinson] perfectly sum up where I’m at and where I hope to be. (Thank you Roger Robinson] your words constantly inspire me)

I typically jump into a year with all kinds of plans and goals and things I want do/launch/accomplish and this year my one and only work goal is to fall back in love with my work and creating.

I started tufting and getting back into my art practice five years ago as a way to recover and feel sane from major burnout I was feeling from running my previous business in NYC(event and set design/build). The art was for me and I never knew it would turn into my new career. I am of course extremely grateful it did but I spent much of last year pulling myself out of the very same burnout - “but, how did this happen?! I’m doing something I love to do, I thought?!” Turns out that perhaps it’s not what I’m doing but how I’m doing it (insert that Taylor swift hi, it’s me song) and I’m ready for a change. A slowdown of sorts. A getting back
To my whys….

I don’t know how exactly but I look forward to falling in love again and what that looks like, I’m keeping my expectations minimal and books cleared for the universe ⭐️⭐️✨💫🌟and please send suggestions if you know how to slow down and not run a business into the ground 🤣😂(partly kidding)

We went for the ol “throw the whole Christmas box at it” approach so we could have some festive for the last two days we are in town 🤪 we agreed to keep it up through Jan to make it worth our effort. 🎅 faves include my new stockings the bust + Santa stack and our candy cane (can’t remember official title) that we enjoy all year but fits right in during the holidays!
