Time creates a space not in distance, but memory and context.
My dear, the golden rays of Sol shine differently now;
Our secret language
Lost in the echoes of so many other voices
As we traverse gullies to places
Separate and secret from each other.
Language,
Like stone,
Like scree,
It turns and grinds to dust beneath our feet and under
The unrelenting winds of time
Till not even thoughts can hold fast in any form we recognize.
I listen in the cold darkness of the night:
Only the surging cries of the south winds and the
Shifting of the stone persists.

Sunrise over Mt Rainier from the perspective of the Tatoosh Lakes Basin.
The incense burns, music is playing, and I'm spending my energy cleaning and organizing.
It's all I can do.
I ended up having to return from my trip prematurely due to the fact that it rained quite a bit more than forecast. I was worried about the trail conditions being too slick on my descent.
New reading material.
I can't wait to get back out into nature again. Lake of Angels is up next.

I just submitted my equivalency questionnaire for the basic backpacking badge through The Mountaineers.
Let's see what they think.
Mt Rainier as captured at sunset from the perspective of the Tatoosh Lakes Basin. I scrambled to the top of a boulder just above the basin to find the perfect perch for viewing the mountains, as well as for quiet reflection.
