Christmas has come to the salon and this lovely client wanted to tone down for winter so we put darker pieces in to give it some dimension.

How to get the best out of your make up artist!
Having an inspo pic is a great start but even better in any profession is when your client says, do what you think will suit me!
Something magical happens in my creative mind, imagine it whirring around and doing a happy dance, while I fall a little bit more in love with you and my job ha ha!
This beauty have me a brilliant smile and let me do me and she was thrilled with the results. I love watching it face come alive, my style is natural and just allowing you to look like you but a little more polished and pretty!

Sometimes I will get asked for styles that I love but are out of my comfort zone, or just will not suit your hair type.

Sometimes I will have to be honest and explain it’s not my strength, but I will always have another option that will suit your hair type, texture and colour.

If you are looking at styles in another colour that can be confusing too as maybe that blend of colour looks amazing when braided or in waves. So always stick to looking at inspiration in your hair colour.

However there are lots we can do to achieve your look and in these pics you will see my journey from practise to practical.

This lovely client had shoulder length hair with medium thickness, so we added padding and extra hair and voila!

When she saw it her face lit up and she ‘OMG, I love it!’

That is what makes me do a happy dance!
Just for fun the last pic is the day after when she still had it there, dishevelled but there, didn’t want to let go of a good thing lol

Dreaming of being here again!

It’s less than a week since I needed to put on my metaphorical big girl pants for my back surgery which has had me in pain I could not have prepared for and cried so many tears but as I recover slowly everyday, I look through these images and feel so lucky I have this job.

It’s my passion, it fills my heart and my mind and I love being the ‘good guy’ on your first special part of the biggest day of your life.

I get the stories, the excitement, the build up to all the ideas and dream lists being ticked off and the smile and watery tears at the end of a successful trial.

So this will be my motivation to get back to where I belong, making brides beautiful and feeling calm and ready to walk that walk!

I’m here with you, I feel it all!

Happy New Year

I know it’s a time to make resolutions and have fresh starts and I love that slate wiped clean feel, however this year I have not made any lists or resolutions for now.

I’m going to ride life’s highs and lows and hope to be abundant in good health.

This mummy showed me her inspo pic from Princess Kate who has the best hair ever and was Happy to report that ‘I nailed it’.

There is no better compliment lol. This mum could have passed for a bridesmaid so I made sure I let her know. Next pic is the flower girl who has beautiful long hair and we wanted her to feel it was down but not in her face, so we did a halo braid.

Improvisation…

These images are off a wedding event at the lovely where I used a dress belt through this mermaid braid, we loved this idea and was unique to the bride.

Big changes in the salon today!

I had the pleasure of being part of this long hair getting donated to The Princess Trust!

My client arrived with her shoulders attached to her ears but after a consultation and a little massage and taking down from the ledge, I have a very Happy lady!
She felt feminine and even shed a happy tear!
I have the best job! Xx

What will my wedding morning be like?

It’s maybe something you have not thought off in all of your planning, but it is a vital part of your day as it sets the tone for how you feel just before you say I Do!

One of my superpowers is reading a room, peoples energy and the general vibe of that morning.

I can then fit in perfectly. I can tell you it’s an honour to be with you in your most important day! I love the excitement, the happy tears and all the long awaited plans coming together.

It never gets old and I will be your biggest cheerleader. I can also be your most subtle bouncer for the unwanted stress that others may bring.

I always carry bachs rescue remedy in my kit for those crazy moments when you need a little helper to settle your nerves. I’m also amazing at opening fizz (just saying) 😂

I can’t promise there will not be some ugly laughing as I am a little cheeky but I can promise you will have a lovely start to your big day.

What can I do with it?

Well with the right prep, tweaking and general magic, we can achieve this and many other looks.

So don’t despair have great hair! Ha ha, couldn’t resist!

What makes me happy?

A Request for Braids!

Yes please, it makes me feel all giddy and excited to braid your hair and see all the different ribbons of colours appearing!

My hands naturally do it and I love creating different styles with a braid.

Don’t worry I can do other requests too but my heart does a little happy dance with this brief!

It’s not for everyone or every hair texture, you need a fair amount to play with so you don’t loose all your hair but there can be lots of variations so it is lots of fun.

So make my day and let’s do a happy dance together.

Textured up do, don’t mind if I do!
Do you want to have your hair up and out of the way but not completely?
This look defines that, it’s up but there is enough softness to feel like you are floating around with some pretty pieces giving you a little confidence.
Team it up with a vine and voila!
We wanted my brides eyes to pop with the make up so opted for Smokey/sparkleyhues. Like and save if this is your vibe.

Love my client’s bravery! She came to me after not having been to a hairdressers in over 10yrs and suppressing her curls and not realising how to manage her amazing texture and get the best out of it and together we have pushed both our comfort zones to enjoy change after change. Today she was doing a happy dance after our new fringe has completely transformed her look. Isn’t she beautiful!!

Bridesmaids are yours picky?………..

Sometimes bridesmaids can get anxious about being the centre of attention. Maybe they are stressing that their hair or make up will not make them feel confident?

This is where I can help. I ask all my brides to send me pics of the bridesmaids and the looks they like. I can then advise if this will work and provide inspiration of other looks that will work with their hair texture, and face shape.

So on the morning we are all prepared and feeling ready and confident.
