BEFRIENDING FOOD EXPERIENCE is a new project designed to tackle malnutrition/malnourishment and loneliness in the Greater Govan area of Glasgow with special emphasis on assisting older members of the community who have age related health problems.
BEFRIENDING FOOD EXPERIENCE is being implemented in two phases.
DINING OUT, hosting regular food events. The events are planned as inter-generational and inclusive of our diverse community. The food will be of a high quality nutritionally, and presented in an attractive and stimulating environment with music, storytelling, games and other forms of entertainment according to the season.
DINING IN,will operate on a weekly basis with assessments of a clients dietary needs and preferences, including halal, vegan, and favourite foods, cleaning the kitchen if required to a standard for safe food production, preparing and cooking the food.
Both the home cooking and the food events will aim to be as plastic free as possible.
The overall aim of the project is to have a meaningful, sustainable and measurable effect on isolation and health impairment in older people and issues compounded by malnourishment in Greater Govan.
