Rea goes to PISCON 2019
Went to the Philippine Impact Sourcing Conference 2019 and I had an awesome experience meeting new people and saying hi to old friends and acquaintances during the conference. I came without expectations and went home full of stories and a new found appreciation to what both the private sector & the government can do for the digital freelancing community. It wasn't a small feat what they have accomplished and I was glad to at least see it during its early years and how it is today. The little nuggets I got were: 1. To all my fellow freelancers, know that there will always be people ahead of you. In your brain you would think that you will never get there. Do not be disheartened. Derive inspiration from those people instead. 2. As a follow up for #1, create your own thing. Follow your own path. Set your own pace. What may have worked for those people might not work for you. Keep trying though. Rhythm is achieved with practice. 3. Say hi. Greeting people as an introvert and someone with GAD has always been a herculean effort for me but do it anyway. Socialization and getting out of your comfort zone can be totally worth it. 4. Continue learning and evolving. As a creature of habit, I am not always susceptible to changes but I have accepted that change could be good too. 5. Find your TRIBE! We have the tendency to follow people because they are popular but instead of popularity, follow people because of their substance. Know what they have to say. There would be people out there that would have the same ideals as you. Find them and do #3. Finding good friends are treasures you will keep with you forever. Loyalty is life. 😊
