Important clarity on this news piece- the flu vaccine does not directly protect against strep (Group A or pneumococcal) but the flu vaccine does help minimize the severity of the flu illness and reduces the risk of secondary complications- such as pneumonia (which is sometimes caused by invasive Strep pneumococcus)!!
