So I'm used to going years without having access to one of my all-time favorite fruits but this time around i only waited a year!
I first tried yellow sapote/canistel/egg fruit several years ago (2015?) in Mexico and it was love at first bite π₯°
Last year February I was on Maui and someone happened to have had a canistel and offered it to me. I was elated π
Fast forward to February of 2022, I'm in Homestead, Florida and I'm at a huge tropical fruit store called and I run into an entire box of yellow sapote and of course this was the vegan icing on my vegan cake of a day that had already been full of so much magic, mystery and wonder (because, you know, we were on our way back from Coral Castle π).
I think I'll be putting forth a more deliberate effort to have my "cake fruit"(because it taste like cake) more oftenπππππππ
So blown away by this South Beach fruit stand!πβ€οΈπβ€οΈπβ€οΈπβ€οΈ

Now that I'm back in New York, I'm missing the tropical fruit that I can't get here in New York - like soursop. Soursop is one of my all-time favorite fruits but unfortunately I only eat it every couple of years when I'm in a tropical place where it grows. It was such a joy to have easy access to it on the Big Island of Hawai'i. I just had to wait for the Sunday market in PΔhoa and there was a lady who grows it who was selling it for $1 per pound i.e. really cheap (FYI for any Soursop lovers who can get to downtown PΔhoa)
