EMERGENCY FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!

Taki is a sweet 5 year old girl that came to us after a severe hoarding and cruelty case. She was in rough shape as she had an ectopic pregnancy (outside the uterus) causing her to have a rupture. She was at high risk of dying from infection and we rushed her in for an emergency spay; unfortunately the baby was already deceased but Taki made it through the surgery without any issues.

Despite all Taki has been through, she is still the sweetest girl we have ever met. She craves human attention. However, due to where she came from, she does not do well with other animals. Many animals were found dead where she came from and they likely had to fight for food and survival meaning that she is very scared of them. Her foster home has other cats in it, and her foster mom is no longer going to be able to keep Taki separate from the other cats, so Taki needs a new spot ASAP! Either a new family, or a new foster home.

As we said, Taki is beyond sweet. You can pick her up and carry her like a baby, she loves to be petted and loved on. She also loves playing with toys! Taki is the perfect cat if you just want a best friend to cuddle and watch TV with; she will keep you fully entertained by herself. She would also do great with kids! Please help Taki, and if you can’t foster or adopt, please share!

She is currently located in Orlando FL.

Happy tailz alert!

Brie came to us as a stray in rough shape. She was extremely skinny and had a severely damaged tooth that we had to remove due to her life on the street, despite the fact that she was only a year old. She was extremely sweet and won all of us over right away! Luckily for her, she also won over the heart of her new momma pretty quickly too. She will now be a spoiled only child and will never end up on the streets again!

Happy Tailz Brie!

Happy tailz alert!!

Recently we had two of our cats adopted. First was Marie, another one of our trailer park kitties. She obviously had a family once before being dumped outside, as she was microchipped when we found her. We tried many times to contact the previous owners to no avail, so eventually the chip company transferred her to our name. She was an extremely sweet girl and very grateful for the help! She is getting lots of love in her new home and will never be dumped again.

Next was Skylar, a sweet kitty who was dumped outside one of our rescue members houses. She was a shy girl who loved other cats and luckily for her, she found a home with one of our previous adopters!! She’s now living with Moe another one of our trailer park kitties and doing great.

Happy Tailz babies!!

Taki, 5 years old

Hi! I'm Taki, I am a 5 year Ginger Girl. I was in a very bad situation and was rescued by these nice people at United Paws. I came from a hoarding case so bad that not all of my siblings made it out alive. Even after all I have been through I still am a Sweet Trusting huge love bug that loves to snuggle and cuddle with everyone I meet! I dont even mind being picked up and carried around, too. Friends have told me that my gorgeous eyes match my beautiful furcoat and my adorable white mitten paws, which I would have to agree with them.

Because of the place I came from, I need all the love and attention myself. I want to be your only cat in the house, but don’t worry I’ll keep you entertained all by myself! My favorite things to do are playing with my toys, I really LOVE LOVE Cat Nip and rolling all around in it having fun, Kat Napping, sitting on my Kit Kat tree observing the world and of course Snack time are also favorites. If you are looking for the sweetest most loveable Little Girl I am the one for you! I promise you will fall in love with me instantly and we will cuddle all the time!
Hugs and Kisses, Taki

DONATIONS NEEDED!! WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP WITH $1700 remaining IN MEDICAL BILLS!

Unfortunately we have been hit with some serious bills lately, and we have a lot of cats in need. As you all know, Linus had his amputation this past Thursday. He is doing well, but we still owe 975 dollars of that bill!

Additionally, Bob, one of our cats we have had a while that we thought was 2 years old, recently had an episode where he fell ill and stopped eating. He is better now, but when he went to the vet we found out that he is actually 10 years old!! On top of that he has a grade 3 heart murmur the first clinic missed and he needs an echocardiogram, blood pressure and EKG to evaluate his heart which will be about 850 dollars.

Finally, we have Brie. She was a sweet one year old cat we took in from the streets and we thought she would be straightforward as she is so young. Unfortunately, she has severe damage to one of her canines with a hole all the way to the pulp and it needs to come out ASAP as it’s very painful. We estimate that to be around 700 dollars with the other services she needs updated.

So, we have a whopping 2500 dollars in bills, all for cats from the street and the shelter that were supposed to be young and healthy! This is a huge unexpected expense and for us to stay open for intake, we need everyone’s help. If you can donate ANYTHING, every little bit helps. You can donate below or at our PayPal [email protected]

Please keep sharing!! We still have 1700 dollars left to fundraise for Bob, Brie and Linus’ medical bills. We are closed for intake at the moment until we can fundraise this

Bob update!

Bob went in for his echocardiogram this week, and unfortunately they found heartworms in his heart which they suspect are causing his heart murmur. Heartworms are pretty rare in cats as they are not the ideal host for them. Also because they are not the ideal host, cats cannot tolerate heartworms very well. When the worms become adults, they live for 2-3 years. When the worms die, there is a 95% chance that it will cause Bob to pass away as well. 💔

We are starting him on steroids to help his body not react to the worms, and he will be on revolution every month to prevent more baby heartworms from being born. We will need to recheck occasionally to evaluate how his heart is looking and see if the heartworms are still there. We are hopeful that Bob will one day survive whenever the heartworms die, but we know that chance is low. For this reason we are placing him in our hospice program and he will stay with his foster momma until it’s his time.

We still have about 2,050 dollars to fundraise between Bob, Brie, and Linus. Please donate below or at our PayPal [email protected] to help us continue operating!

FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!

Brie is a very sweet girl who had a rough life on the streets. She is barely a year old and we brought her in because she was coming up to people and begging for attention! The poor girl even had a broken tooth from getting hit by something outside, which our vet removed. She is a very healthy tiny petite girl now, who is working hard to pack on the pounds because she didn’t get enough food where she was outside! Brie tried on a couple different outfits today because she’s getting ready for Halloween and trying to impress her hopefully new family!

Despite her rough past, Brie is EXTREMELY sweet! In fact she’s one of the sweetest cats we’ve ever met. You can quite literally pick her up and carry her like a doll all over the house. She LOVES to cuddle, she loves to be petted, and she LOVES to talk!! She will come when you call her and will be all over you. She soaks up attention like a sponge and cannot get enough!! As you can see from the photos, she doesn’t even mind getting dressed up.

Because of Brie’s past outside where we think she was likely bullied by other cats, she seems to be afraid of them and would likely do best as an only cat. She is however so sweet and entertaining that you don’t need another cat around when you have Brie! She’ll be the best friend you ever had and have plenty of conversations with you since she loves to talk. (In the photos where her mouth is open, she’s talking!)

She is currently in Wesley Chapel FL (near Tampa) but transport can be arranged for the purrfect adopter! If you’d like to foster Brie, you just need to be anywhere in the central Florida area. She needs a new foster home, or even better a family!

Silver, 1 year old

Hi, my name is Silver! I am a super sweet one year old boy. These nice people found me outside and brought me in- they said they think I had a family once that left me behind because I’m SO sweet. I have TONS of kitten energy even though I don’t look like a kitten- I LOVE LOVE LOVE to play! I can even play myself I love it so much. I also LOVE being petted so much that I will get myself excited and worked up over it. Toys and pets are my life.

My foster mommy says I have the softest fur and I am a pretty quiet boy. She also says she thinks I’d do okay with other cats that respect my space! I don’t mind other cats if they’re nice to me.

10/08/2024

Sydney, 1 year old

Hi! My name is Sydney and I am about 1 year old. I am very curious and love to explore. I have a huge personality and love to play! I will come up to you and ask for pets- I LOVE being petted. When I get tired of it I will let you know in my own cat way. I will definitely be part of the family and prefer to be around you! Purring is one of my favorite pastimes. Also I enjoy birdwatching and sunbathing.

I am very active and love the company of other cats. You’ll usually catch me playing with other cats and cuddling with them every now and then. I’d love to have a cat friend in my new home! My favorite toys are balls to chase around and my ball tower, I run and run in circles around it.

Linus needs your help! Unfortunately at Linus’ recheck after another intense round of antibiotics and anti inflammatories, he has shown no improvement. His wound closed on the outside again but he still cannot walk on that leg and based off x rays his vet suspects the infection has spread to the bone. Their recommendation is that we amputate, so we have scheduled that surgery for Thursday this week!

Because of the complicated nature of his amputation and bone infection he needs to stick with his primary vet. The estimate they gave us was around 1300 dollars. If you can donate anything to help us with this huge unexpected cost for Linus, please do so below or at our PayPal [email protected] .

If we hadn’t given Linus a chance, he’d be outside right now with that horribly infected leg. 💔 We could really use your help as funds are stretched VERY thin right now!

TAKI UPDATE!

Taki had her surgery yesterday and amazingly, she did NOT have a mass in her uterus! It turns out it was one very large deformed fetus. Surgery went well and Taki is already feeling much better- her temperature is back to normal! In about 10 days she should be able to get the cone off and then she will be up for adoption. She is a very sweet and grateful girl.

Because of there being less issues than expected when they went in for surgery, our bill went down from 1500 to about 900 dollars which was great!

Unfortunately, we still have about 250 dollars of that to fundraise. If you can donate anything to help us pay off Taki’s bill and keep saving cats like her, any little bit helps!! Please donate below or at our PayPal [email protected]

EMERGENCY DONATIONS NEEDED!!! TAKI IS HAVING EMERGENCY SURGERY TOMORROW!

Taki here was rescued from a cruelty case recently by our local shelter. She had kittens and once they were old enough to be separated from her, she was sent to be spayed so she could get adopted. Unfortunately, when they opened her up they found an old mostly formed fetus with a skeleton (it seems from an old ectopic pregnancy), and a large uterine mass. Due to how complicated everything looked, they closed her back up and didn’t touch anything.

Unfortunately, that now puts her at risk of becoming septic. We rushed her straight to our vet today and she has a fever so she got bloodwork, antibiotics and anti inflammatories started and will have surgery first thing tomorrow. She will have the fetus, mass and uterus removed and the mass will be sent out for biopsy to make sure it’s not cancer. Luckily, her bloodwork looks good and x rays don’t show evidence of any cancer having spread.

It was about 200 dollars for today’s visit, and the surgery is estimated to be around 1500 dollars for tomorrow between the multiple procedures, biopsy, and medications. If you can donate anything to help us with this huge unexpected cost, EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!! Taki had no time to wait if we wanted her to live. Please donate below or at our PayPal [email protected]

Happy Tailz alert!

Recently we have had some great local adoptions. First was Stella, a sweet shy girl that was dumped outside of one of our rescue member’s houses. She is going to a home with lots of kitty siblings and she will never be dumped again.

Next was Moe, yet another cat that was dumped at the trailer park. He was super sweet and following people home and almost getting hit by cars. We got him off the street and healthy, and he now has a very loving family and a doggy sibling!

Finally we had Jerry, who was part of a severe hoarding case earlier this year. He was in horrible condition and needed all of his teeth removed along with multiple procedures on his ears to remove cysts and polyps. Once he was all better he struggled to find a home due to his sassy personality and being a senior, but luckily for him he did! He is absolutely spoiled now and living with cat and dog siblings.

Thank you so much to everyone who donates to us to allow us to save cats like these and get them off the streets and out of the shelters so they can have a second chance at life. Happy Tailz babies!

Meet Linus! Linus came into our local shelter with some pretty nasty wounds recently. He had been brutally attacked by other cats where he came from. They thought his wounds had healed, and because he’d become very difficult to handle from the stress of constant wound treatment, he was going to be returned outside after being neutered. We didn’t want him to go back outside, so we pulled him into foster care!

Luckily for us, Linus was very sweet right away (although very scared). Unfortunately for Linus, his wound was not healed. His front leg which had the worst wound appeared pretty inflamed when we got him and he could not put weight on it. By the next day, his wound had split completely open. We started him right away on intense pain medication, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and we are hopeful that we will be able to save his leg!

This was an unexpected cost for us, so if you can donate anything to help us with Linus’ leg please do so below or at our PayPal [email protected]

Professor catnip update! Upon careful consideration with our vet, we have decided to place him into hospice care. Despite having such horrible teeth, he rarely drools and he eats like a champ. He is very happy to be alive and cuddle, and he is a total ladies man even at the vets office as you can see! He loves toys and right now he has quality of life.

Today we started him on solensia for his arthritis pain and added some daily fish oil for heart and skin health. If he manages to be a good boy and not spray in his foster home, we will not neuter him for his own safety. However if he begins to spray we will have to risk a small bout of anesthesia to neuter him (less than 10 minutes).

He is looking for a permanent hospice foster if anyone is interested, we will cover his medical bills until his teeth or his heart start to get the best of him. He seems to do fine with other cats and will sleep on you all night long (he’s a cuddle monster)!

Happy Tailz alert!

Ruby came to us last year with a very sad story. She was dumped outside the shelter in a carrier with her two siblings who were pretty quickly adopted. She unfortunately was sick and extremely terrified- she’d had a much harder life and did not trust people at all despite only being 6 months old. She was also terrified of other cats as we believe she was used to being bullied by them.

After a long time and lots of TLC, she not only learned to trust people, but she grew to crave attention! She changed from a cat that you couldn’t touch to a cat that wanted to be petted all the time and always wanted to play. Luckily for her, she found a home that fully understands her past and is willing to be completely patient with her while she gets comfortable. And the best part- she will be the only kitty in the house!

Ruby is settling in amazingly well, and is already head butting her new dad for attention. We are so proud of her and so grateful to her new family for taking a chance on her. Thank you so much to Mr. Peanut's Pet Carriers for donating the carrier she flew home in. Here is a photo of her meeting her new dad and a photo of her in her new home. Happy Tailz Ruby!!

Professor catnip got his echocardiogram last week and the results were not what we were hoping for. He has severe hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (thickening of the heart) which is why his heart and liver was large on x ray. He is not in heart failure yet, but he needs to be kept in a very low stress environment and he is not a candidate for anesthesia.

We are working with our vet on a plan for him to see if he will have any quality of life with how horrible his teeth are, since we will never be able to safely fix them and remove the damaged ones. In the meantime his foster is giving him lots of love because we don’t know how much time he will have left. In the first photo he is watching TV for the first time (it’s very confusing to him)!

Photos from United Paws Rescue Inc's post 13/06/2024

Professor Catnip here! I posed with my favorite thing (catnip) in the hopes that I can get some more donations to cover my medical bills. I am getting an echocardiogram today to see what is wrong with my heart, since the vets told me my heart is big. I hope I’ll be okay so I can keep playing with catnip and cuddling with my foster mommy for a long time.

My rescue still has 1300 dollars left to cover the cost of all my diagnostics-blood work, x rays, echo, etc. so if you can donate anything, PURRLEASE do so! You can donate below or at the PayPal [email protected]

Photos from United Paws Rescue Inc's post 12/06/2024

Skittles update! She had her recheck after her dental recently, and unfortunately her gums are still pretty inflamed in one section. She got a long lasting steroid injection and we will recheck in about a month to see how her gums are looking.

Usually when stomatitis kitties have their teeth removed, that solves the problem. Unfortunately it doesn’t always solve it for every cat. Depending on how her recheck goes, she may need to be on steroids for life to help control her gum inflammation. 😞 We are hoping her recheck goes well and she doesn’t need that, but even if she does we will do whatever she needs!

Photos from United Paws Rescue Inc's post 10/06/2024

Meet Professor Catnip! This boy has had an extremely hard life and he has a lot of issues- we need your help to take care of him!

At 12 years old, he has a raging nasty ear infection, a filthy coat you can smell a mile away, and very damaged teeth. All of his canines are fractured with the pulp exposed and he is in a lot of pain- all 4 canines will have to be removed and possibly more teeth. Unfortunately, the doctor felt like his abdomen didn’t feel right today. On xray, his heart and liver were enlarged. We ran a PROBNP test to see how his heart function was, and it gave extremely abnormal results. The doctor feels there is a very high chance he is in right sided heart failure, where fluid backs up into the liver instead of the lungs. So his heart issues could be causing his liver to be so large despite his bloodwork looking fine (aside from the proBNP).

Our next step is to try to get Professor Catnip in for an echocardiogram as soon as possible to see if he is in heart failure and if there is anything we can do to help him. He can’t go under anesthesia to fix his horrible teeth or to be neutered with a failing heart. We are extremely hopeful his heart will be okay but we are bracing ourselves for the worst.

This sweet boy was a purr machine and loves all the attention he gets. He is so skinny and beat up from the streets that he stumbles when he walks, but he will still walk over to you for love and treats. ❤️

His bill today was around 900 dollars between the bloodwork, urine and heart testing, X-rays, ear testing, and medications. His echo will be around 600 dollars at the minimum. So we are looking at 1500 dollars total to get all the diagnostics we need on this kid to even be able to put him under anesthesia. We know it’s a hefty bill, but he is worth it. He deserves to have a good life after all he’s been through. If you can donate anything to help us with this boys bills, please donate below or at our PayPal [email protected]

Happy Tailz alert!

Tres was from one of the two hoarding cases we rescued cats from earlier this year. Tres had come from a particularly rough house, with 18 cats and holes in the walls so big the cats could go inside the walls. The house was filthy and dangerous due to their owner mentally declining from old age. Tres was terrified and didn’t trust people, but her wonderful foster Laura taught her how to.

Although Tres could still be a shy/nervous kitty, she ended up LOVING other people and cats! She loved to play and was a very sweet girl. Recently she found a forever family of her own up north and with the help of volunteer transporters, we drove her up there. She is playing and having a good time already!

Happy Tailz Tres. ❤️ here’s a photo of her in her new home + a cute pic of her compared to what her shelter photo looked like!

Happy Tailz alert!

Recently two of our kitties were adopted locally. First up was Rosie, a 2 year old kitty whose owners dumped her at the shelter. They said she’d become aggressive and didn’t want her anymore- she was so terrified at the shelter that she was almost euthanized. Luckily for her, a foster stepped up. Once in foster care she calmed down very quickly and blossomed into a very sweet girl! Unfortunately, she didn’t like other cats even though she loved people. Even MORE luckily for Rosie, she recently found a family with no other pets that loves her just the way she is. She is doing great already and will never be dumped again.

Next up was Chester, yet another trailer park kitty that we suspect was dumped there. He was extremely sweet and begging to go home with us. He had been sleeping in the storm drain by the train tracks and he was ready for the soft life! We got him neutered and healthy and he found a home pretty quickly because he was such a good boy. Chester is settling in amazingly well and has a new kitty sibling to boot.

Here are photos of both kitties meeting their parents for the first time and them in their new homes. Thank you to everyone for continuing to support us so we can make stories like this happen. Thank you also to Mr. Peanut's Pet Carriers for donating the carrier that Rosie went home in. Happy Tailz babies!!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far! Please keep sharing. I don’t want us to have to end up back in the same spot after taking on another case if it ends up being another expensive kitty. 💔

We are in desperate need of help. We have found ourselves in the position where our bank account is down to a few hundred dollars. This means that we barely have enough funds to support the cats we already have in our rescue, since their monthly expenses combined are usually in the hundreds. What does this mean for the rescue? We have to close intake until we can find another way to fundraise. Potentially, we will have to permanently close our doors and shut down the rescue after adopting out who we have left if we can’t find a way to fundraise more for the rescue.

As you all know, our rescue is one of the few out there who does not turn cats away for their behavioral issues or medical issues. When we have space and financial ability, we take semi-feral cats that can’t live outside, “aggressive” owner surrenders, cats that don’t like other cats, “stray” cats that nobody cares about, FIV+ cats, and cats with a variety of expensive or long term medical issues. Many rescues either don’t have the ability to take on cats like these, or don’t see them as worthy of rescue among all the other cats that need help. We have always taken pride in rescuing the “underdogs” of the cat world, but this can be a very difficult and expensive task.

Here is a breakdown of what our monthly expenses look like:
Between all of our cats that you have seen lately with major medical bills, we have had lots of cats going in for less expensive visits that add up. Cats that we have to fully vet because they come to us from the streets with no care, cats that have had to go in for smaller diagnostics like bloodwork or f***l panels for diarrhea, etc. We also have cats that require special prescription food or medications, and this ranges from 150-300 dollars a month. On top of that we have to provide our fosters with litter and food if they are unable to provide it, and this also ranges greatly depending how many cats we have at a time in foster care. It can definitely be hundreds a month as well. And finally, we have transport costs. We are not always able to get volunteers to do transports free of cost, we often have to supply gas money (especially if it’s a far trip or last minute).

If you can spare anything to donate to help us keep our doors open, any bit is appreciated. We have 4,800 followers. If you all donated 5 dollars, it would be enough to keep us open for quite a while and allow us to not have to turn cats away due to potential medical costs. If you can donate anything, please do so below or through any of these apps. And if you can’t donate, please share!
