Bear Track Tarts - layers of salted caramel, peanut butter and chocolate ganache in a house made chocolate shortbread crust - normally I would tell you to stay away from bear tracks but in this case I’ll make an exception 😜🐻🐾
Arugula & Quinoa Salad with roasted stone fruit, goat cheese, candied almonds and spiced balsamic vinaigrette - treating yourself well does not equal deprivation.
Some of my happiest childhood memories involve long car trips up the pacific coast to visit family in British Columbia. With Bambi the pug securely in tow between my brother and I in the back seat (sneezing and snorting and other things all over us for 1300 miles 🤣) off we would head into the great Pacific Northwest. And though I’m sure the years have firmly fixed the rosy lens of nostalgia over all my memories, I choose to remember the wonder of finding wild, summer blackberries behind the motel we stayed at one night in Oregon and enjoying their impromptu sweetness in a bowl of morning cereal. This is where my love of travel and exploring new paths first took root. And though I would love to say it is also where I learned to love the diversity of food travel has to offer - my brother would remind me that I was the pickiest of eaters then and would only eat a hamburger or BLT. 🙃 Sometimes it’s simply about the journey and time. We all arrive when we are meant to.

This week I have the pleasure of introducing our newest team member, the multifaceted Luz. In her own words: “I find myself to be socially awkward but put me in a kitchen and I’m home. Being in the kitchen whether it be baking, prepping, working a hot line or running an event makes me the happiest. I’d say the person that made me really love cooking would be my dad . Growing up he would make my older brother and I these AMAZING fried egg and avocado sandwiches, those will always be my favorite. My favorite part of cooking is having the ability to give people a certain sense of nostalgia , it’s like biting into a cookie and have it take you back to a childhood memory or a happy time and place.” You can order from Luz’s menu now through Sunday at 6pm, available for pickup or delivery.
On this date, a Tuesday after Father’s Day just like today, I unexpectedly lost the best Dad a girl could ever have asked for. The passage of time has dulled a great chunk of the pain but every so often a sliver rises up to pierce my heart once again. I will always love and miss you my papa bear.

This week I’d like to introduce you to the beautiful and talented Jillian, our backbone kitchen manager and food artist extraordinaire. In her own words: “I am an artist/creator and mama to two beautiful souls. I have chickens, dogs, a cat, turtle, snake, and fish. I play ice hockey on the weekends and spend a lot of my time helping others.
I have always marched to the beat of my own drum as a kid (and still do today)… I’ve always felt the need to create things in my life whether it be with my hands or my thoughts. At a young age I found interest in painting and drawing and movement through dance and taekwondo.
When I was 14, I started working in a pizza restaurant and found out that I could create through food and have been in the industry since. I had taken a couple years off to have my two boys but when I started working again with Heather, things were different… I was different. I really have been allowed to immerse myself in the idea that food is art, and art is therapy. Being able to have the creative liberty that Heather gives me is good for my soul and so fun to share with my boys. You can order from Jillian’s menu now through Sunday at 6pm, available for pickup or delivery.
Having a summer soirée? How about our small bites - ready to be tray passed or set up in grazing boards.
A look back at this week’s menu…Mango Curd Tart on a house made shortbread crust with fresh mango slices, raspberries, cherries and whipped cream
